Air Asia
I'm in the process of going for interview at KUL for AA.
Can someone from inside tell me about: 1) initial training for Type Rated: how is it ? how long ? how difficult ? 1) commuter roster (in-house built) possible ? 2) Air Asia X tickets (free or ID) for pilot and family ? How many ? possible to fly with them (seats available) ? |
1. About 2 months last I heard, rather relaxed pace. Training done by CAE KL, can't comment on difficulty as I didn't train there.
2. Nothing official. Best you can do is put 5 requested days off together at the end/beginning of a month, maybe add a few days leave, and create a 6-2ish roster. 3. ID tickets available, same rights as AA flights (wife+kids or parents). Confirmed ticked within 14 days of outbound flight. XL seats very difficult to get though, subject to availability on the day and they were always full. S. |
Thanks a lot babotika.
Last question: what do you mean XL SEATS ? |
Anyone else can give me any hint on Air Asia roster, pay and life in Mqalaysia compared to US ? I appreciate any help
|
roster - if for Airasia A320,all are daily flight( depart from base than back to base) usually have 2 shift, morning or evening , average 4 sector per day work for 3-4 day than have 2-4 day off, working day per month is about 16day.
for captain monthly average close to 100hour . Airasia X, A330/340 - working day a little bit more than 320 cause have night stop. flying hour about the same "I am not 100% sure about that , but is pretty close to the actual" Pay - not that good if compare to EK,CX.......... but the living cost in Malaysia are consider low(it depend where u stay , your living style) but car are expensive due to the stupid taxes imply on import car (fuel are cheap). Living --people are nice hahaha, a good place to see different culture food-local food are nice and cheap, if dont like local food, is easy to find major fast food chain (the price are consider cheap compare to the rest of the world) and also major restaurant franchise (pricey) can refer to link for more info Kuala Lumpur travel guide - Wikitravel |
XL seat is something like business class seat with flat bed
|
I got that now !!!! couldn't figure out what XL seats were ...... Thanks a lot.
In the process of gathering info I ran into some quite interesting forums about money, leave. Thanks a lot p900 and anyone who shared info on other sites. I think it's a very interesting experience for F/O who have no chance to step on left seat. Wonder how long is this BOND someone's talking about: it's a decreasing bond ? Value for non.typed should be 50k $...... 30k fot typed. I wonder if it's different training for rated or not ? Regards. USn |
Hi everyone,
How to apply ? Nothing on their website. Also heard their requirement is a minimum of 2500 hrs MPJ. Now, what do they mean by MPJ? multi pilot jet ? Cheers! |
Dec a330
Hi guys,
do they hire DEC A330? What requirements do they have for 330 CPTs? What salaray and per diems do they give for 330 CPTs? TKS for Reply. SJ :8 |
Have a look here:
AirAsia - Careers at the World's Best Low-Cost Airline Sorry, no A330...... I hear you can step on it once you're in the company from at least 1 year. Hope this helps. :O |
While cheching in for AA, Tiger Airways called me thru an agency.
Anyone knows more about them ? I read on DP site they ask F/O to remain without going home if they pass the interview !?!?!?! How about that ? |
Here is an ongoing thread on Tiger;
http://www.pprune.org/south-asia-far...r-airways.html And yes, they do say if you pass the interview, training starts right away. |
Me either..... If AA pays for a trip from one of their destinations (X or not), I think TIGER doesn't pay for a thing !!! I know from friend who interviewed for Cpt postn that last year they interview in London and offered even tickets to expat from other continent from sister company (which I don't know) during contract.
Otherwise commuting with Singapore with that money is gonna be a nightmare. Their money is not bad but it's way too low to live in SIN if you're a F/O. Need to step to Cpt seat ASAP. Regarding AA I agree with Johnboy2, noone understand their own way to look for people: a friend had a super-unrealistic SIM where the instructor on the other seat would be obstacle to anything and weather way below minima.....:= |

FO Pay and Conditions
Hi,
I am looking for some information on the overall package for FO's? Pay Roster Lifestyle Perks Thank you in advance for your help. Danny |
At AirAsia? They don't hire expat FOs at all - government won't let them. All expat FOs have had to leave the company over the last year.
S. |
GO to Malaysia Airlines they are hiring Expat FOs and Capt. No problems hiring Expat with MAS..
|
Thanks for the suggestions guys, but would still be grateful to receive information for non-expat malaysian pilots and the package Fos can expect to receive.
Cheers, Danny |
