Not bitter are you SR71?

SR71 2nd January 2012 20:48

Nope. Is that the best you can do?

;)

Never applied to Virgin although I think its a great airline.

Just a shame that the sentiment appears to suggest that what seemed to be a recruitment system that worked admirably in the past has been hijacked by HR....

eagerbeaver1 2nd January 2012 20:58

I don't understand your point SR71 if you have never applied and experienced a VAA interview?

Why do you even care?

backburner 3rd January 2012 13:23

Just before thread creep sets in...........

Is there anyone else who has NOT heard anything from the last recruitment round last month?

StopStart 3rd January 2012 15:33

Yup - nothing yet

Nearly Man 3rd January 2012 16:11

SR71 makes some good points ... why the ragging?
It seems to be the case in all airlines now sadly. But hey ho!

SR71 4th January 2012 06:09

I spoke to two gentlemen yesterday who have been successful at the latest round of recruitment with Virgin, and I take it all back...

It seems that the Virgin recruitment status quo is very much alive and well.

I've always thought that it represented the eminently sensible and pragmatic approach to a simple problem and a breath of fresh air when compared with numerous airlines' ridiculous processes.

Happy New Year.

:ok:

Oh dear then.....

Whilst I applaud the idea of getting back to common sense recruitment procedure, it all falls apart on the idea that those with the snappiest cover letter or CV with the nicest colours should be interviewed.....

Are they after pilots or pilots whose mum is the best at word...

Nearly Man 4th January 2012 18:06

ha ha Fade :E
To be honest it reminds me of the flute who wrote in a mag about the importance of the length of your sideburns, sent in a full length photo of himself in his RAF uniform to Virgin and got in. Maybe a pussy shot is better? Num num, them grapes taste sour :}

Capt Ted Crilly 4th January 2012 22:46

oh do tell!!!!

nearly man,

do tell, pls.......

at least give us his seniority number.......

Narrow Runway 5th January 2012 06:12

Ted Crilly

Its 69 I believe.

Nearly Man 5th January 2012 09:59

I'm trying to find the reference. I think it was in Pilot magazine. Bless him, he got the job though :}

PPRuNeUser45738 5th January 2012 10:52

And now flies for BA

fly_boy320 18th July 2013 16:56

10 to be recruited onto the A330 later this year.
26 onto the B744 'over the next 9 months'
Once hold-pool is empty, recruitment via website.

pilotatlast 18th July 2013 17:51

Anyone know how many swimmers currently in pool?

Iver 18th July 2013 21:33

Great news about potential hiring!

Sorry - I have asked this before and I am still unclear (I guess not surprising :}). Although pure speculation, is the thinking that the 787-9 will replace the A340s as well as the 744s over time while the A330s will be preserved?

Also, if one has 737NG experience, is it more likely that a Boeing slot will be offered than an Airbus slot or does that not really matter any longer?

Cheers for any update.

fly_boy320 19th July 2013 07:17

787-9 is to replace all the A340s over the next few years.

A330 and B744 to remain at least another 7 years+.

Recruitment onto A330 will be Airbus CCQ, Boeing drivers required for B744.

Hold-pool is nearly empty, so expect website to open end of summer.

EllanVannin 19th July 2013 08:56

Are you sure it will be Boeing drivers required for the 747? Is there any real type rating cost saving to be had by VS in training say a 737 driver onto the 747 vs training an airbus driver onto it instead?

Thad Jarvis 19th July 2013 09:21

They've taken plenty of bus pilots onto the 74 in the past. Can't see why that would change.

Jet Fuel Addict 19th July 2013 09:33

Virgin recruiting

Hey guys. I can imagine a boatload of people applying once they open up again. What are the chances for an experienced medium jet but non wide-body guy?

Thanks for your info. :ok:

Ta!
