I don't think the thread should be closed. Some people would like information on bmir. Perhaps the person who keeps hijacking the thread should be shown the door. Which is most likely what happened to him/her at the bmir interview.

overun 30th September 2009 23:22

Just a thought.

l apologise for the deletion of several posts last weekend without explanation, Roy Hudd`s feelings l understand but my feeling is that Van G has the right approach.

You see, l worked for these people years ago and personal likes or dislikes don`t alter the fact that they are very good indeed at what they do.

Warm showers together after work are optional. Work is work.

I regret that l showed an accidentally received private message between two allegedly protaganistic pain in the bum strangers, but l did, and one has shut up. So that can`t be all bad.
Wouldn`t it be nice to have this thread reclaimed ?

that how good you are

it did'nt work cos i've a right to an opinion and so have all bb's.
we dont throw rattles out of pram's and call people rude names
we see things as they really are and don't encourage wannabe's with false promises.
when times are bad the first thing to go is the aircraft seat then the meal out,the new car,tv,clothes, phone, computer, weekly subscription to the beano, etc etc
so when your'e driving along the road or peddling cos you flogged the car to renew the ir and you see "two dine £5.99"things are bad
when interest rates climb above 10%
To all the hopefuls
It always comes to he who waits
but sadly it does'nt apply to aviation

At the top of the page, click on the option "User CP"; on the menu on the left hand side, there is an option for buddy/ignore list.
Type the required name into the section to put a user on your ignore list, and you never have to read their posts again...

Thanks carlton, won't have to read that tripe anymore!

How's the winter schedule at bmir looking? Any more charters secured? Heard they may have some football flights?

Thanks

woofly31 7th October 2009 11:18

Has there been any further talk about this winters structure for Regional and any future plans. Is there work for the whole fleet this winter leading into next summer? As mentioned earlier a 3 year Plan was presented by the Management recently. Has any of this leaked out? :ok:

stop, stop, stop 7th October 2009 19:54

The only thing leaking out at the moment is the RUMOUR that Flybe may take on BMI Regional by the end of the Winter schedual...........

But as I say...it is only rumour at this point.

:(

Rollerboy 8th October 2009 07:41

Oh Suitcaseman

JF will be having a better time than the management at BMIr.

The company know that the scheme will be well recieved by the whole workforce. They are even running a couple of Dash TRs in the next 6 months so my guess is that the full set of options are not aimed at any of the flight crew.

For the record I now don't think Flybe are interested in BMIr they just want to look at the books out of interest and for a little publicity.

News on the bmi website regarding the new CEO of the group. It also talks about his role in restructuring bmi for the future. Hope this is good news for regional and baby as well as mainline.:ok:

overun 8th October 2009 21:42

l have to say, l am sorry, that any " restructuring " is never, ever good news for crews.

One of the laws of nature, l`m afraid.

hey! they let me back in

it seems the site misses the truth now and again instead of what most people dreamed the previous night after those funny cigarettes.
austrian at the helm now which means wrong level ,and all the long handed spelling of waypoints etc etc
this is the winter of our discontent
heard comed has put a bid in for bmi regional
any truth in that?
its good to hear that rm is back
flown with him many times and it would be nice to know bmi has some finess at last.
Also the chester contract is up for grabs again!
flybe put bid in on friday

Expand on the Chester contract again

What has happened or changed to that?

cheesycol 11th October 2009 16:50

I've also heard Flybe have put in for a contract very recently. Wasn't Chester though.

bilderberger 11th October 2009 18:17

From a usually reliable source within a large factory in North Wales its something to do with the company's uncertain future.:uhoh:

Rumour has it that "Dickie" from Humberland has been looking at the books and could be back in business there sooner than everyone thought:D

For a "Fleeting" moment (those in the know will get my drift) Better to let the contract go East again rather than letting it go West!

Deep and fast 12th October 2009 06:23

Contract has already been extended!

You should be called turdberger because you talk !!!!!

woofly31 12th October 2009 09:32

Any word on the winter structure and plans for next summer? Have the EGLL 145's been retained for mainline services for the winter and future?

Deep and fast 12th October 2009 11:44

2 will be gone from LHR in March, and the rest will follow at some point after.

There seem to be no plans for re use at the moment, but we will find out only when new routes or bases appear on our roster. Hawarden was only admitted when crews were rostered there.

Was having a beer with the SVP of Airbus A380 wing (the top guy in Airbus UK), and he was very very happy with the new service provider. Very nice guy too.

woofly31 12th October 2009 13:01

New bases and routes would certainly be good news, I hope that's a plan in the Lufty mind. :ok:

LKMflyboy 12th October 2009 14:55

EGLL

No one knows what will happen with the EGLL EMBs as the winter schedule has still not been finalised! It is merely an assumption that regional will be staying in London for a little longer.

I'm guessing that the crew at the bottom of the mainline seniority list are longing for regional to stay put though, as while the EMBs remain in London there will be no mainline redundancies. With 6 airbuses to be parked up at MAN for the winter schedule it does look like mainline will be rather over-crewed.

EGCC4284 13th October 2009 11:09

Flybe has just said on Skynews they are interested in BMI Regional and the slots out of LHR

AngryBaby 13th October 2009 11:35

Yeah I heard that too!

Apparently if they take off the crew water, a few seats and stop selling those galaxy muffins on board. They might just be able to stretch the Q400s legs from LHR to JFK on a good day with a 500kt tailwind.

MEL CAT C 13th October 2009 11:44

galaxy muffins? they still sell those????? i knew they were just hiding them from me! :}

SinBin 13th October 2009 19:37

bmi regional DO NOT have slots out of Heathrow! They are flying MAINLINE slots!! I very much doubt they'd get anywhere near LHR!!

Jerseyman 13th October 2009 20:01

But don't tell FlyBe!!!:oh:

EGCC4284 13th October 2009 23:28

Lets start again. Flybe are interested in BMIr and BMI slots out of LHR. They said nothing about BMI Baby.

AngryBaby 14th October 2009 07:27

Im interested in Pamela Anderson, I she going to jump in to bed with me?

Who said anything about baby?

doh!

Mungo Man 21st October 2009 08:52

Make her an offer - a galaxy muffin maybe?! I heard she's bankrupt!

Falling_Penguin 21st October 2009 10:53

What are you all talking about?

This thread is ridiculous; are there any people out there with helpful information on what is going on in BMI reg - plans, recruitment etc?

LKMflyboy 21st October 2009 21:56

The reason this thread has no helpful information is that the only people who know of the plans for bmir are those at the top of Lufthansa... There is much speculation within the company and plenty of different rumours abound ranging from redundancy to the start of new routes. The reality is that none of the staff know what the future holds.

bilderberger 28th October 2009 17:37

What?

Why dont you email me personally so we can chat Wellington boot.

overun 8th November 2009 03:13

The all seeing eye has strangely gone quiet.

spudgunjon 8th November 2009 08:22

There is still a hold pool of guys waiting for something in the future, if anything. People have been rumoured to be sending applications in for the database.
It's not rumour its fact. As a naive fATPL wannabe fresh out of flight school back in April, I sent my CV to bmi regional (along with 400 odd other companies!) who got back in touch requesting me to submit more details...at the time I was over the moon seeing it as a silver lining nestled in the clouds of rejection letters and viewing it as a potential opportunity to fly what looks on the face of it, a nice aircraft (on a marginally better deal than FR).

Judging by this thread and subsequent correspondence with the training manager it appears to be a mirage on the horizon, with no planned recruitment, an annoyingly timed takeover and a holding pool full to the seams!?!

Van G 8th November 2009 09:18

I think the bmir management's hands have been tied for the past year as the Lufty deal has been finalised. An announcement is due at the end of this month regarding the future (3 year) plan for regional. However, given the sad news of redundancies at bmi baby earlier this month I'm not sure if there will be any recruitment in the near future for any of the bmi group.
Of course, we'll just have to wait for the announcement to come to see what the future holds.

Regarding the holdpool, I don't think it's particularly full, just a little stagnant!

Best of luck to everyone involved.

Mister Geezer 10th November 2009 23:04

(on a marginally better deal than FR)
I would say that bmir is a far better deal than FR.

A4 11th November 2009 18:02

I think BMI have more pressing issues to deal with:

Financial crisis could force bmi out of business in under a year - Times Online

In essence BMI need to find another £100million ON TOP of what Lufty has already said they will stump up (£93million) to continue as a going concern.

That is unbelievable! It looks like the LHR slots will have to go - but there's not a lot of spare cash floating around in aviation at the moment.

Good luck to all in BMI... it looks like you have a challenging year ahead. :ouch:

Van G 11th November 2009 18:15

LONDON (Dow Jones)--British Midland Airways, or bmi, Wednesday said it expected to be able to meet its financial commitments and had adequate resources to remain in operation.
Bmi, acquired earlier this year by German carrier Deutsche Lufthansa AG (LHA.XE), made its comments in a statement issued in response to an article in The Times newspaper, which suggested bmi might not be able to continue as a going concern beyond next year due to an acute funding crisis.
"The statement in the accounts clearly states that the directors and auditors believe that the company can meet its financial obligations going forward," bmi said in the statement.
"Additionally, with the current level of commitment shown by Lufthansa and with advanced business initiatives in place, the directors have a reasonable expectation that the company has adequate resources to continue in operational existence in the future," it added.
The U.K. carrier currently is executing a restructuring plan to stem losses.

I think every airline will struggle in the next 12 months. The times article may or may not be accurate, but it's this kind of media speculation which can be the kiss of death for an airline. I hope they get proved wrong.

A4 11th November 2009 19:03

Agreed. On all points.
