Eastern Airways Pay Increase???

Has RL forgotten his hard working staff this year regarding a pay increase in line with inflation?

It was around this time last year, I think, that staff had their last pay scales reviewed.

horsebox 25th July 2008 10:01

Whats morale and turnover of staff like at Eastern presently?

Serenity 25th July 2008 10:40

Morale = Low
Turnover = High

GMIMA 25th July 2008 21:53

Please Have a little sympathy for Ricky and Brian, it cant be easy spending all that money ,

pay rise in line with inflation? you must be joking, this is one company that Gord Browns message will be well welcomed in.

PaulW 26th July 2008 11:38

Received letter this morning. Pay rise in next pay slip to be back dated to 1st of July and reviewed in 3 months.

Richard Taylor 26th July 2008 17:17

Morale=Low; Turnover=High...

...so that's about 99% of the airlines worldwide in the same big boat then...

j41cac 21st August 2008 03:18

If you say so, its more a case of greed on the managements part. Shame on them.:yuk:

holyflurkingschmitt 21st August 2008 11:27

Hey, at least you guys got a pay rise!!

j41cac 26th August 2008 21:48

Yes and that is how it has always been each year i'm told!

Never mind the current climate.

Computer says NO! 27th August 2008 15:02

Profit made!

Company reporting £4 million pre-tax profit with an £85 million turnover!!

Pay increase?!

GMIMA 28th August 2008 13:17

i think RPI stands at something at 5% at the moment a 2 percent increase hardly covers that, if anything, people are working for less than last year, milelage claim still rubbish, along with the terms and conditions.

never mind that this massive increase will be reviewed in a few months time, i can bet your bottom dollar ricky will only only give another 1%, leaving his hard working crews to struggle on.

even when i used to work for eastern i always remember getting those personally signed letters from ricky about our yearly increase, and it was always less than inflation. im so glad i work for a company where im well looked after!

Eastern

There may be tough times ahead in the industry. I hope not for all of our sakes.

Eastern though have an oil based pax base (not all of them of course). And those oil companies are looking for oil everywhere. They also have a busy charter base at the moment.

That means that the flight crew may be safe in an uncertain future.

Yes, I know it could all go tits up, but i am hoping not.

So, at the moment, I am glad to be in work and getting some pay rise. Even though the pay in not brilliant, mine has gone up c£2500.00 in one year.

Cloud Chaser 11th January 2009 10:25

Could someone update the details on ppjn?
Surely 36.5K for a Saab Capt can't be right.
Are the Saab and J41 crews on the same scale?

rubymurray 11th January 2009 11:34

'Surely 36.5K for a Saab Capt can't be right.'

Er, yes it can! Duty pay will push that closer to £40k though. Off the top of my head think the Jetstream guys are on around £750/annum less than Saab crew.

Eastern salary

Hi there. Sorry to bother you but I wanted to ask u is the pay for FO on S2000 with eastern is how much nowadays? I'm getting hired and I got a family of 3. Would u say I could survive on their pay? And do I get pay increase every Six month? Kindly shed some light on the matter. Cheers

skyhigher 14th July 2011 05:44

not to state the obvious but would all this info surely not be stated in you contract of employment?

MrKipling 16th July 2011 08:10

Starting pay is about £20 k I think

It is pay rise time of year apparently though!

jamestkirk 12th August 2011 17:15

pay increase

More experienced people leaving. One giving one weeks notice. More I know are on the way.

Lets see if HUY can see whats happening and going to happen.

Wetdream 17th August 2011 06:42

Don't tell him he may be a spy. :)

Rumour is about 4 or 5 guys are working their notice. There will be no pay rise, there are plenty of pilots looking for jobs. Anyhow easterns pay scale is so far behind everyone else's it's still going to be crap if we do get one.

jamestkirk 17th August 2011 08:32

prediction

I give it 1-2 years from now before they lose the SCS contract.

WHY?
HUY pushing their luck or Saab crews leaving.
Or both.

Night_Watch 7th September 2011 12:32

So is there a pay rise, or that just a hoax made up to try and raise morale? not that there is any....morale.

Wetdream 13th September 2011 16:09

I see they are painting the big red rocket at HUY. That's where the Laurier has gone.
Last one out close the door. :)
Embraer fleet is getting bigger though so I'm told a 145 is being added to the fleet.

macdo 13th September 2011 19:45

Seriously, 20k for a Saab Fo! Christ I earn't that on the Saab in 1999, I can't believe they get away with it. Who the hell would tell their kids to be a pilot these days.:ugh:

McGoonagall 13th September 2011 20:54

Apologies for the intrusion on this part of the forum. What would the FOs pay be including per-diems? Not a great deal more looking at the latest on ppjn.

If I can I will give you an industry comparison. I recently took four young lads (22-25) from off the street through to qualified train drivers in just under a year. Their training salary was £23k for a 35hr 5 day week. Now qualified and driving productively their basic is £43k for a 35hr 4 day week with no Sundays contracted to work. If they work their allocated Sundays (about 20 a year) thats another £6k ish. Most of the younger lads work an extra 3 days a month at an enhanced rate, put another £7/8k on top.

Given that a 35hr working week probably averages out at 20-28 hrs actual driving it compares well to airline flying hours.

The main difference, leaving the salary aside, is that the lads did not pay a penny for their training, medicals, travel, uniform and even got a free buffet lunch every day while in the school.

I do feel for the airline wannabes, sure there are greater rewards when in the left seat and with a better paying airline but for how long can the industry pay paltry salaries and expect young people to take out what in essence is a mortgage on their future.

:ugh::ugh::ugh:

keepin it in trim 14th September 2011 13:26

Entirely seriously, in comparison to an awful lot of flying jobs, that looks very attractive. 2 questions, where do you apply? And is there an ( upper) age limit..?

LoopGuru 14th September 2011 14:10

Just wait until the first LoCost rail operator comes along, then it will all change - Ryanrail anyone? :\

macdo 15th September 2011 14:27

Bob Crowe wouldn't let them get away with it. He'd have the brothers out indefinitely.

macdo 15th September 2011 19:09

on the sort of money these guys pay, I'm not surprised. These guys pay a lot better:

Let's threaten a strike like the engineers did just before they got their big pay deal :)
Dream on.
