Saccade, you're absolutely right, the fuel missile is firmly locked onto ryanair right now. Those rules are not negotiable. What is different at ryanair is the way that lowering of standards is the answer to shortages.

Ballsout, I'm glad to hear you fly with excellent pilots all the time. One can only hope this apparently new idea of recruiting only the best (as opposed to the cheapest) is continued. However, as ryanair were only attracting those who couldn't find a job anywhere else in the last few years, there remains significant quality issues.
And BTW, tight SOP's and constant memo's which attempt to iron out all forms of airmanship are no substitute for ability. You shouldn't confuse the ability to be word perfect at SOP's for the ability to be able to deal with the situation when the merde meets the fan. Hence all the near hull losses in the last few years.

no one here is flying an F14 or F15 what ever it was, its Commercial Transport and anyone with a Job at Ryanair has sat at least 5 Flight tests including a 737 Type rating to proove they can fly to the required level, yes some will be better than others but no one would get a license without been able to demonstrate there skills to JAA examinors!

They dont give these License's away with 20 tokens from Kellogs Frosties you know and Ryanair are very very strict on SOP's yes, thats how you can get crews from many different cultures to work together safely.

this sorry situation is not the inexperienced f/o's doing.it is the work of greedy managers who will bully and bull!!!! their way through to make themselves look good and fill their pockets.so if you have any bile to vent,i suggest you direct at the real culprits and not fall into the usual pilot thinking of blaming other pilots.

Mind you, it's just dumbed-down aviation. Try pulling all FMC resources from an experienced FO going in MJV (procedural arrival), sit back & enjoy the show.

Where is it you base your claim that all pilots at Ryanair are only there because they could not get a job anywhere else?
ls this based on your own situation.
If you have had the oportunity to fly for a number of other european carriers, you will know that there is little or no difference between the average ability of their pilots to fly, or deal with SOP's.
All airlines have had the odd interesting incident, it's just the Ryanair ones seem to be made more public than most others.

another good point is they have more aircraft!

operate 10 aircraft and see how many incedents you have

operate 160 and see if that number increases!
