You sound suprised.QF isn't what it used to be, low morale and salary is not close enough to what it should be after tax.Salary hasn't change much over the years and considering inflation, it doesn't make it any easier.EK pays better and from what I hear it's not a bad gig once you get used to the sand.Not so suprsing is the new policies that just came out at Qantas, S/O's now act as FA's during take off and landing.Talk about degrading.

As a train driver in the UK. My basic salary is £37200 pa. This is for a 35hr week, 35 day paid leave, 100% of pay is pensionable, free rail travel throughout the UK and heavily discounted rail travel in most European countries.

I guess i was lil surprised...my mom is an aussie and is getting her passport back (we live in the states now). I was thinking of going down there and maybe trying to find a job. Things in US arent what they use to be also. Good luck at EK

Purser, 8 yrs. £2000 pcm net. As a 200 hr f/o with the same airline I will have to pay for my type rating and net take home will be about £1000 pcm in total - if I get a job.

Takehomepay FO Swiss on A320 is around 5800,-sfr minus healthinsurance 200,- minus taxes 500,- so around 5100,-sfr/3000 Euro.:pSorry thats it.

I have never ever heard something like that, and we are talkin of QF. I hope I never hear it again. I think you guys shoud do something serious about that. Im response to your question our duty limits are regulated 12hour per day maximum with 12 hours minimum between shifts. Maximum weekly hours is 72hours. We are subject to random unannounced drugs and alcohol screening with the usual periodic medicals. The company that i work for work to a 5 day 35hr week which is averaged out over an 8 week cycle. There are some operators which work to a 4 day 35hr week. Hope this answers your question T-star |

year 2 FO with bmi regional. 750 hours last year, average personal pension contributions - i think about 4% per month. net take home £2100 - £2200.

Seagoing pay
Cruise ship captain, major UK operator - 4 years captain - about 6000 GBP take home per month. (No UK tax deducted for seamen out of UK for more than 180 days per year but pay NI & pension.) Work about 220 days per year. 1900 pax/850 crew.

First proper job
1st year turbo prop F/O Highlands and Islands of Scotland, £1350 in hand per month, no flight pay. Accommodation included whilst on duty. Stand by from home elsewhere in UK. Low pay? Yes. Do I care? Not at the moment.
Get loads of time off, worked only 6 weeks in last 12, without using any holiday up. Good pay rise at end year 1 plus early captaincy poss at 1500hrs TT.:) |
