easyJet bases
EasyJet have said they aim to announce one new base each year. Madrid was the last one. Any qualified guesses about where the next one will be?
|
Copenhagen of course!! ;)
|
Brunei of course lost a few Capts to RBA!!!:)
|
Nah, half of them are coming straight back after having realised that Bandar isn't the tropical paradise they imagined it to be
|
Munich or Athens.
/CP |
Exeter
You saw it here first |
Try Toulouse.
Loads of scope for a low cost at this busy airport |
What about Bournemouth!?
|
Munich would be appropiate
Nice market, close to East Europe and another way to expand to the East...
|
What about competition from Air Berlin/DBA?
|
MSE ho ho ho.
|
it will be NCE
|
Easy, I'd heard the same thing...the novelty factor of the jungle has worn off already for some......"I'm a celeb get me out of here" ;)
|
Vueling may not start their base in CDG because of financial worries, so my guess is Easy will open a base in CDG...
|
Does anyone think that they will open a Manchester base?
|
Only one RBA capt wants to come back and I suspect it wont be to easy!
|
Bath would be nice. As and when the international airport is built of course...
|
RAF Colerne = Bath International!
|
Catania...........
|
All these rumours come from the fact that easyJet is always in discussions with lots of different airports about the possibility of establishing bases there...
Prior to the MAD base being announced, other bases such as BOH were under consideration, and discussions were taking place with airport owners. I think I read in Airliner World (spotter mag, I know, but it's usually the most reliable source for info) that easyJet was in discussions with up to 30 different airports and would make a final decision on just one. I would imagine that employees at these airports hear about the discussions taking place, assume that their airport will be the next base, and then the chinese whispers start. This usually ends up in disappointment for those of us who built our hopes up for a NCE / PMI / AGP base!!! |
It will be Blackpool and it will be a Boeing Base.:)
|
It felt like this thread just transformed into a simple list of where people would like the next base to be.:= I was more interested to hear if anyone know any serious negotiations going on or if the company is buying slots etc which would indicate that the airport is being looked at as a base. :ok:
|
Yes I Am Serious
Toulouse |
CWL would be nice.
There's 3 crews worth there already on the 737 (Baby). Many would jump. |
Ditto Blackpool and the airport have just relaid the apron for 737s
|
CWL / BPL etc?
The Company have bases in BRS and LPL - how could it possibly make sense to open a base a few miles up the road and compete with an airport you already serve in the same catchment area? The nearest airport to LPL I could see them considering as an option would be Doncaster-Sheffield, the nearest to Bristol probably would be Bournemouth. Both would be serving mainly different catchment areas. |
The sense would be in me only having 4 miles to work and back. Makes perfect sense to me.
Relax a little bit buddy, we're only playing:) Or Warton, EGNO would be acceptable too, 5 miles. |
Actually I wasn't joking about CWL.
Only 10-20% of the catchment area overlaps (according to the airparts themselves). Baby do not have a management that are proactive enough to develop low cost markets. As they have proved at CWL, MAN, MME and EMA. South Wales could be a good market for EASY and as I said many of the guys at Baby would be very interested, if it did happen. Plus any BACON guys in the area who don't want to go to BHX or EXT. Might be a simple base to crew fairly quickly. |
BRU
:D :ok: |
This is Terms and Endearment. Shouldn't this thread be in Airlines, Airports and Routes? Moderator?
|
EZY Pulling the LPL base
One base easyjet may be pulling is LPL - Ive Heard from a reliable source that they're fed up with a lot of aspects of the entire LPL operation especially the Ground Handling from their agent. Its blatantly obvious that Ryanair are getting all the special treatment from LPL airport authorities now.
|
TOULOUSE
And of course on A319 Already operating LGW + ORY + MAD Opportunities for CIA, LIS,RAK,LPL,GLA,FRA ETC. Think about it ! |
with the order and options that Easy has made, I am sure that a lot of us here will see their Favorite Bases in the not so far Future.
if you compare to FR we don't have that many bases in Europe so my guess is that for a while that will be the trend. Speevy |
MLE
Male Maldives with C182 float plane;) |
It will NOT be another UK base.
When it comes to the comment on LPL - LPL is EXPANDING, not anywhere near downscaling or closing. As someone already stated, Cologne is a good guess...But my guess is still Athens or Munich. WeŽll know before the end of the summer I guess... /CP |
I think easy considers the UK market saturated.
AMS is too expensive, BRU too soon. AGP, ALC, MUC likely and the one that keeps coming back, Athens. Didn't easy already apply for 2008 Tel Aviv slots? Kinda makes sense out out Athens. |
Ignore Toulouse At Your Peril!
Believe Me |
CDG, MRS or BOD.
|
I believe it is either going to be Alicante or Rome. Malaga is an option, yet I do not feel they would be going for it.
|
Dubai :} with a 3 on 4 off roster perhaps?
