Thanks........I hope that I have a chance and of course I totall respect your views here....I too have been (albeit for a short while before I jumped ship) with a company that had similar management problems.

Moku

I heard this RUMOUR in CDG, BHX and EDI all in one night. I'm not attaching any credence to it at all.

The kicker is that BMed are in to us now.:ooh:

That last bit has got to be mince!

........waiting on the next announcement.;)

Blackcap 8th January 2007 22:33

Could explain the lack of the promised (by Jim French) 5 Jan update on the nextgeneration(haha)airline website.

If it doesn't flounder now, it is bound to soon. Better sooner than later I think.

rhythm method 8th January 2007 23:29

Funny, I can't get onto the company (BACON) intranet at the moment...

...the more cynical usually say that occurs just before an announcement! ;)

Thumperdown 9th January 2007 07:32

Update

But its not Friday - can't have an announcement until Friday := !!!!

I managed to get onto the intranet this morning - breaking news - cups of tea to be sold for charity on the 29th Sept 2006 :ugh:

atprider 9th January 2007 07:48

What exactly is the "channel Islands investigation"?

Brain Fade or someone

Could you elaborate on this. What does this mean?

Cheers

brain fade 9th January 2007 08:16

take that

I'd feel guilty posting crap like this if it wasn't called Pprune!

In wartime they shoot rumourmongers. Not entirely without justification!

Last night I heard that Flybe had pulled out but that BMed were taking us on instead.

Do you believe in the tooth fairy?;)

moku 9th January 2007 09:33

atprider,

This is from the Next generation airline website.

"Flybe has had discussions with Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority, who have commenced initial
investigations into the deal and Flybe’s position in the Channel Island marketplace following completion,
with a response due by mid January. In addition, we are working with the Office of Fair Trading and expect
some consideration from them in late January."

moku.

atprider 9th January 2007 10:01

Cheers Moku,

Hadn't spotted that!

I wouldn't have thought that the acquisition of BaCon would give FlyBe much more of an exposure to the CI market making their monopolies body too twitchy - or do you think that they have uncovered something else unsavoury during their investigations?

Maybe Friday 5th January was a typo. Rumours everywhere that the deal has fallen through and the deadly silence from both BA and Flybe says to me that there will be no merger or takeover. I did think that Flybe were taking on more than they could chew.

The advertising boards at Manchester only reflect Flybe's current routes for next summer. Nothing about old Bacon routes with the exception of a Glasgow route. Something has happened and uncertainty abounds again.

They haven't bought/acquired BAcon yet, therefore they have nothing to sell/advertise. BAcon is still advertising their routes and quite agressively as has been mentioned before. If they don't do this BAcon will lose even more money in the meantime

BA will have to keep advertising and promoting their own services until such time as they hand over to Flybe, I would be very surprised if BA continuing to actively promote their routes until the handover wasn't part of the initial agreement, and if it was you can bet your bottom dollar someone out there in Flybeland will be monitoring how many ads are about and where.

BACON

BACON not going to FlymayBe rumours?? probably a false hope but BACON as a stand alone body could be a great business

Flybe eyeing up T2 BHX

There was a group of flybe staff including their Station Manager taking a tour round T2 BHX yesterday with one of them making notes so I dont believe the "deal is dead" rumours just yet, otherwise they would have been wasting their time.

I personally expect the deal to start progressing now after a 2 week xmas break and it to be completed on the 31st Jan. Its going to be a long 3 weeks till then!

skysod 9th January 2007 16:24

This deal needs to be sorted asap, otherwise the whole thing will become unworkable as more and more pilots look elsewhere due to the future uncertainty of the company.
I'm an FO on the Embraer with 8 years at Bacon, and I don't know of anyone who isn't actively trying to escape this mess-and that includes me!

Deal? Or No Deal?

I have a property manager from Flybe coming to BRS on Friday

Thumperdown 9th January 2007 19:42

I hope he/she is taking the train - in case it rains! :ok:

Bonzoboy 10th January 2007 13:24

I just hope that everything gets sorted out for all of you guys. I went through a merger as a BCal pilot and it all seemed a nightmare at the time. Eventually it all gets sorted out and it rapidly becomes history. Historically BALPA proves it's worth in situations like this one.

As for me if anyone else can help here I would be so grateful....I am trying to get into Flybe as a DEC 400 pilot after not having a medical for several years.

I have had a response before on this site but if anyone can throw some light on DEC recruitment I would be so grateful as next month I am jobless. Cheers.

moku 10th January 2007 13:31

Bonzoboy,

I noticed last night that they have re-opened the online applications!

Best of luck to you..

M.
