It also depends what you have and what you want.If you were to take the housing, then accommodation is provided which on the whole is to a good standard(but not always). All bills are covered except International phone calls. This will leave you with approx $5000/month wheras if you take housing allowance this will give another $2000/month on top. This excludes allowances, which are crap anyway, and contributions to provident fund(5%). Depending on fleet allocation, command for you will be min 3 years(B777) increasing to 4-7 if on A330,BUT THINGS CHANGE HERE! Education generally good and mostly covered unless you want US school which then becomes expensive.Medical/Dentist cover for you and family(small monthly contribution required from Family) and Business class travel for adults,First class when skipper.Bid for work on 5 month rotation and pretty much stable rosters.Staff travel very good.Leave,if you can get it,all done on computer and you know there and then if you've got it.
Cars are cheaper than in Europe,Petrol VERY cheap.Food also cheaper than in most parts of Europe if you buy local. If you want the imported items....you pay big time for fresh!Emirates Pilots Club offers excellent deals on clubs/hotels/discounts for a nominal monthly fee....great value.Beaches are good( my opinion) and driving is suicidal. (EVERYONES OPINION!)
There is good and bad and views will vary depending on time in Emirates/Dubai and from where people have come from. It will depend on your age, personal circumstances and family/wife etc.If you are happy and have good career prospects with a good pension, staff travel, stable roster and varied route structure, then stay where you are.If you are successful after interview, then ask people directly who work for EK BEFORE you make the decision.
Things will probably have changed again in 6 months from now!
