No calculators permitted!:{

757_Driver 22nd November 2010 21:49

thats what I thought.

To be fair, it wouldn't be much of a test if you could use a calculator! I seem to recall from last time that none of the questions were very taxing, just serious, serious time pressure. 20-30 seconds per question or something like that.

A329apu 23rd November 2010 12:17

is PPJN pretty acurate with salary figures?
@ 757 driver, how did you order that booklet?
I had a look at their website but I couldn't find it.

757_Driver 23rd November 2010 13:31

the booklet came in the post from BA. I didn't order it.

Does anyone have any good up-to-date links for Interview Prep courses? Would prefer the 'face to face' type rather than the 'on-line' type if possible - do enough of sitting in front of computer screens!

Abbey Road 30th November 2010 13:43

I have heard, very recently, from within BA that the company may be looking at opening their recruiting (can't say when, but I got the impression it will be before next summer) to non-type rated military pilots. It seems that they want to recruit from mixed backgrounds, but it might only be a small group though - in the order of 20 or so. I cannot say whether they will give some/any preference to military pilots who were formerly in the hold-pool. I would hope so, but who knows .....

Commiserations to those who have not been successful in their recent applications, and best of luck to those who are 'in the pipeline', or still waiting.

Wirbelsturm 30th November 2010 13:52

It is pointless trying to second guess when/how/why/what the recruitment process will be doing next year! The training department and the finance department are still trying to figure it all out! With the return of the 744's from the desert, the merger completion and new routes (Heathrow-Orly etc..) coming then what goes today might not be extant for tomorrow.

Suffice to say that friends I have spoken to are VERY upbeat about the requirements for the next year or so. Whilst internal movement is still slow everybody expects that to change with SH movement to LH thus freeing up the bottom of the SH fleets.

Keep watching the site, when the 'suitable' type rated applicants have been used up then the goal posts will be widened. Those looking at the FTO's there have been rumours of contact between the training department and the usual schools either taking place or being planned.

Good luck.

Hello

I have my selection in Feb and since I live abroad I will be flying in the day before. Can anyone recommend a hotel nearby...? A hotel not too far from the selection centre and within a 10min taxi ride away...?

Regards,

Jury's Inn Hotel

wiggy 1st December 2010 14:21

Assuming the selection is done at Cranebank then as well as Jurys Inn there's a Travelodge (the one at 700 Bath Road) that's within walking distance. Failing that you've got all the hotels on the Bath Road that are nearer the airport (e.g. the Ibis).

Hi - has anyone who's been in the sim yet in the last week or so heard any news whether positive or negative? Any indication of how long they take to let you know after the sim?

Thanks

Hotel wise - I'm in the Premier Inn on Bath road - perfect place to stay.

Boys and girls,

I understand sim results ( yes / no ) went out via email today. Being an ex swimmer I'm over the moon to have made the grade again.

Goodluck to everyone enduring the process.

If I can give any advice is prep prep prep.

Hi,

Thnx. I used the verbal and numerical reasoning test booklets you can get on amazon.com. How to pass a verbal reasoning test, how to pass a numerical reasoning test. The verbal test is the hardest, focus on that. The numerical is very simple and this only requires you to train your speed to calculate very simple calculations. Ie. A machine punches 15 holes in x seconds. How many punches is that in y seconds? Very simple, just train your speed.

Good luck!!
