I suspect they’ll have a harder time getting “cheap” crew on to the Airbus in the same way they manage to get pilots to sign on to the (relatively) low pay on the 787.

Over the few years between the first introduction of the B787 and now there has been a shift in the market, at one time Norwegian was the only airline in Europe that was expanding and taking on crew. Now we have a situation that all airlines are expanding and some like Ryanair are having to curtail flying because they can’t recruit or retain enough crew.

For pilots it is the perfect storm, the shortage of pilots will increase remuneration and general conditions of employment. Getting back to Norwegian in Spain, the latest news is the company and unions are close to agreement on a new T & C ‘s package for the Spanish bases that is likely to be agreed by the pilots.

I have to agree with you about Airbus recruitment, to tempt pilots from all but a few of bottom feeders in Europe are offering better packages, however to get Airbus crew to jump ship to Norwegian in LGW an increase in pay would have to be in the order of 20% in pay with a better pension package and a conventional employment arrangement, they might get a few takers at the current rate but Norwegian would just find themselves supplying fully trained and experienced crews to the likes of easyJet in the long run.

Could all be academic with the finances as they appear to be, having seen how the operate for the last few years, something needs to change.

I keep hearing these rumours but all the signs apparent on the front line in the last four Airlines that when bust under me are not apparent at Norwegian.

My guess is the source of scuttlebut is an airline that has lost a lot of crew to Norwegian.

Perhaps, but the source I'm talking about is the finances they release. What signs are these so I can keep an eye out for them in the coming months. Appears a bit directionless over the last few years and the head in the sand and fighting the employees every step of the way doesn't do much for your confidence either.

Was quite a bad year, hope they can find a way to change the route they/we are going down. Should really be making money at the moment to help through the really bad times
