Norwegian based in Spain

Good day everyone:
Can anyone shed some light on working conditions for Norwegian out of Spain?
I see that the contract is for 3 years but what is the renewal conditioned upon?
How is the roster on 787 out of BCN?
Is it a local contract or one out of Ireland offshore?
Thanks

Also in the other 787 bases, AMS and Paris.

Direct Bondi 10th Jan 2018 08:57

The 787 roster may become somewhat reduced. DN news reports today:

“Norwegian must switch engines on 21 Dreamliner aircraft” – Link:

Spanish 744 and 330 operator, Wamos Air, is currently flying a number of Norwegian’s US routes.

INKJET 10th Jan 2018 11:58

More fake news from Bondi the sacked ex Norwegian prime hater.

The engine is an upgrade not a swap see below.

The Norwegian airline will upgrade the engines on all of its 21 Dreamliner aircraft used on long-haul flights. It reports E24.no.

"The exchange is done according to a clear and prepared plan for motor change, where the costs are covered by agreements with suppliers," says Communications Manager Lasse Sandaker-Nielsen to Finansavisen.

The thirteen Boeing 787-9 engines are upgraded to a newer version, Trent TEN. At the same time, additional eight 787-8 upgraded engines, but not Trent TEN.

Suppliers of the engines are Rolls-Royce who are now able to take the upgrade note after problems with the turbine blades.

Direct Bondi, is some what correct with regards to the engine situation, you just have to look at any other 787 operator to see the current on going engine difficulties with the Rolls Royce Trent 1000, so why would Norwegian be any different.
So the upgrade is probably to solve the engine problems, or to hit the problem head on before it becomes an issue.
The Wamos operations are no doubt there to cover the short fall and delays caused by the JFK snow storm, as with any low cost carrier schedules are tight, and really have very little room built into them for significant delays.

Sorry but if I were on a contract that more or less pays the same for me doing 0 hours as 100 hours I would be happy with less flying and more time at home with my loved ones

lansen 10th Jan 2018 17:39

You really hate this company Direct Bondi, right?

INKJET 13th Jan 2018 10:35

Bondi

You really are a jerk

Norwegian have wet leased in Wamos to clear the back log of flights following the east coast snow storms which left 1000’s of flights canx in the US, Norwegians flights over this period along with everyone else are full and it would take months to clear the back log with out brining in extra lift.

You had your chance with Norwegian and blew it, ditto Baltic, take a long hard look in the mirror to see what failure looks like without wishing it upon others

Direct Bondi 13th Jan 2018 13:14

INKJET;

Your obsequious loyalty is once again misguided to the point of personal insult and invention. Clearly, anything that may negatively impact Norwegian greatly distresses you.

I do not wish failure on Norwegian and none of my posts reflect that.

My posts provide news, and information associated with agencies temporarily renting pilots to Norwegian via atypical employment schemes. In most instances I provide supporting links. I am also entitled to my opinion, as you are.

I am able to post without personal insult and/or invention, while you cannot.

SR71 13th Jan 2018 16:12

But it does go to show how accepting we've become, as a fraternity, of obnoxious employment schemes that suit only the Employer.

It is surely a truism that, however happy you are with Norwegian, you'd be even better off if employed directly by them?

I mean, how much does OSM take from Norwegian, for supplying their labour? Money that should otherwise be in pilots' pockets.....

I think people would be more tolerant of Bondis posts if there was the faintest whiff of objectivity in his/her posts.

GScapture 14th Jan 2018 09:45

I must second Bondi with this. As I dont have anything to do with Norwegian nor am I interested in joining the conversation, however, we should all fight together against atypical employment models and social dumping that is the disease in this industry.

Then again while doing so, people shouldn’t get so insulted if something applies to ones company etc.

At the end of the day we are all in the same boat.

The company still being in business?

Like all Ponzi schemes, it’s a matter of when, not if.

Sadly DirectBondi puts some people off by the way he delivers his message. It doesn’t make the message any less valid however.

DuctOvht 15th Jan 2018 09:22

Don’t worry, I won’t.

Whatever DirectBondi’s history with Norwegian (which accounts for the relentless way he chooses to deliver his message, including that annoying blue font), it doesn’t alter the way Norwegian goes about its business, nor does it alter the health of their balance sheet. His message is still valid.

Everything that seems to be ‘too good to be true’ normally is.

Googlebug 16th Jan 2018 06:54

are we not forgetting they way Norwegian mass sacked or “let go for winter” 10s of FO a few years back.
As DuctOvht says we should be all in agreement these shady employment methods should be stoped.

CMDGreen 19th Jan 2018 21:17

Bases

Is the company recruiting 737 pilots for Spanish bases? Or only Scandinavian bases?

A and C 19th Jan 2018 21:56

I know it’s a long time since I left school but has Gatwick been moved out of Europe without the world telling me about it ?

CaptainProp 10th Feb 2018 16:57

Does anyone know if the airbus will fall under the same umbrella as the 737 ops or under NLH as far as contracts etc goes when it joins next year?

Icejock 10th Feb 2018 19:20

Nobody knows...although SEPLA has just signed a CBA with Norwegian although it’s contents unknown at the moment.
