Is there any info on the bond please?

TugaFly 19th Oct 2018 14:38

It’s not a bond, it’s 30.000€ TR paid in 36 months. It’s 833€ deducted from your net salary every month.

Their roadshow in São Paulo seem to be sucessfull. All room full more than 400 candidates.
I wonder to know what the pilots union will say about this. About convertion of brazilian licences to EASA.

I'd say most candidates were just curious about the T&C offered by TAP. Probably no more than 1/4 of all those 400 people would apply for the job.

Regarding conversion of licences to EASA, actually it's not a conversion. The licence would be validated by the Portuguese CAA and the pilot would have to convert (on his own) to a full EASA licence within 18 months otherwise will lose the job (which means sitting the 14 ATPL subjects and doing a Skill Test). Ryanair recently did a roadshow in Brazil and it was exactly the same thing.

dan1165 25th Oct 2018 10:43

How long after sending out your documents to TAP did you receive their invitation for assessment ? ... Still no news for me ..

ArmApp 26th Oct 2018 14:25

Lepo I was wondering if us foreigners from Europe can fly in Brazil same way as you may fly here as you explained?
I checked years ago and....not, only Brazilian passport holders can fly there, your CAA protects local pilots...so...

The thing is: Brazil has a very big Portuguese/Italian/German community and thus a lot of brazilians are descendants from europeans, so they also hold an EU Passport and are legally allowed to live and work in the EU. They basically need to convert their ICAO licences to an EASA one in order to be able to fly for european carriers.

ArmApp 26th Oct 2018 15:43

Anyway good luck everyone. Hope TAP reacts quikly or they will miss the pilots with experiece on type since we all have many options to fly, hopefully...

Latest news
The company continues to place ads uncontrollably.
Recently the Pilots' Union called on TAP because of a controversial issue that began in September.
Where candidates would have to pay for training. € 30000. Something that never happened.
The union asked for a hearing, but TAP did not cooperate.
It means that TAP does not comply with what is in the collective bargaining agreement.
This imposition high discriminatory to those who do not come to celebrate the contract of employment. For example a pilot enters the training and then does not sign the contract and will work elsewhere? Those who decide to stay are required to pay and this is discriminatory.

The justification of incorporation in the progression and professional career of the costs with the training, obviously that was a criterion that took to determinate amount of renumbering does not appear in the text of the collective agreement of work, that was made and presuppose this fact, that is to say TAP disrespeita what he knows and can not ignore.

The recognition that the imposition of the payment of training constitutes a limitation on the freedom to work, the collective labor agreement regulates. TAP confesses that the imposition of these conditions on pilots who are members of the union violates this agreement by seeking to establish a less favorable regime in breach of national law, Article 476.

This is all being evaluated in legal therms.

trancada 1st Jan 2019 11:00

In relation to EASA licenses.

In fact, companies are desperate to get drivers.

TAP went to Brazil to make presentations.

And because of those who do not have the EASA license how will it be?

It is important to know if there is an exception mechanism or other conditions that favor the contraction of pilots in this situation, or who can convert the licenses, to satisfy the objectives of an operator or operators, which does not really have to comply with the rules of the European Union .

ANAC has an uncompromising position in the defense of what is regulated and in meeting the high standards of quality and safety required by the EASA license, and seeks to confer this on its holders.

The union was available to collaborate.

So nothing new about this licensing issue.

maddog8387 18th Jan 2019 22:42

really mean company

Is really ashamed how this company, main Company, organizes and treats the candidate, they call with 24/48 hours notice, selection divided in 5-6 days not in sequence,"psycho" test divided in 3 days on a computer 20 years old, Pilots have to pay everything by themselves resulting in a selection costing around 1000 euro , and specially teasing foreigners since at the end they only hire Portugueses.
I accept that we all can fail a selection, but dear TAP your way to make selection is awful, start respect people.

If you are a non Portuguese guy, I strongly recommend you to don't go,I know the wish to fly for a Major growing company is big...but this is pure xxxxx

In the other hand...good luck to all that will try.

marpa 19th Jan 2019 07:46

That’s how Portugal works. They have an expression “FOR ENGLISH TO SEE"

trancada 28th Jan 2019 15:09

High demanding for F/O continues.

Last week they received one fo 2 unexpected 321NEO. They where from PRIMERA with on 180 cycles. These aircraft are added to the renewal fleet plan. TAP decided to remove the ACT’s placed on these aircraft.

The 320NEO LR are coming soon. They will fly from OPO/EWR/OPO, LIS/IAD/LIS , LIS/ TLV/LIS and to Natal in Brasil.

Some rumors, next year to Istambul.

Also 2 more 330 NEO where introduced to the fleet. Meanwhile Salvador da Baia in Brasil is the 2nd destination introducing this type. Now 3 330NEO. The actual 330-300 will phase-out. The A340 are starting the phase-out at the end of the year. The oldest 319 and 320 also 4Q2019

They removed the ATR72 from LIS/OPO/LIS, due to several operational problems. ATR72 is not certified for ILS CAT2 and RNAV GNSS. Porto weather, during winter has a lot of fogs and low ceilings .

Lisbon Airport the traffic ached their maximum capacity. that every day there are a lot of delays. So they decided to operate with A320 fleet between these 2 destinations. Sometimes they use the E190.

In future Lisbon will have a secondary airport, Montijo, on the other side of Tejo River. Actually it is a Portuguese Airforce Base.

Flexible Roster, comes out on the 15th of the previous month and you have 10 days OFF per month.

Some recent applicants received an email that all admissions are suspended. At moment there a lot of trains from last summer classrooms that didn’t start their training, in simulator or line training.
Company is facing difficulties to obtain simulators slots outside off Portugal.
Some of them are experienced on Airbus FBW.

There have been too many admissions in an uncontrollable way.

At same more F/O upgrading for Captains.

In summer A320NEO LR operation, to cross atlantic will start. OPO-EWR will the first route.

miguelcosta1 8th Mar 2019 12:20

Any idea to when they will re start the process?

Was one of the ones who got the email.

Thanks!
