Best Company to work for? (your dream job!)
Just for a change, lets talk about something positive?
Lets not concentrate on how "hard" or "impossible" it to get job. How some pilots pay4work etc. If you could pick a company to work for/attend interview, which one would it be and why?:ok: |
Goldman Sachs, because I'd be stupidly rich and have nothing whatever to do with aviation :ok:
|
trust me, you dont want to work for goldman sachs.
My brother left there last summer. Its borderline slave labour. It also has the most cut throat comany attitude in the whole city |
Aer Lingus :)

Lufthansa on A380;)

This isnt quite on par with what the thread is about, however on a positive note, I must add these comments.
I spent 5 fantastic years in Bmi, and in May of this year experienced the Bmi to BA transition course as a result of the IAG buy out. As great as Bmi was in terms of a place to work, the welcome we have received at BA has been outstanding. The transition was hard work, but smooth, and have spent the last 6 months really enjoying working for Airways, and enjoying the benefits. I fully appreciate the hardship involved with getting in to BA for experienced pilots and cadets, but once you are in, its a great place to be and I feel very lucky. All the best guy/girls. :ok: |
Dream job = Nothing to do with "effective tax rates", legislation, spreadsheets, structure charts, meetings, blah blah blah. Nothing to do with all nighters in the office, backstabbing colleagues, clients, billing, etc.
A job that allows me to indulge my passion for flying rather than just dreaming about it on another gloomy London day. An office with a better view. :ok: |
Qantas, no matter which fleet. I'm Italian therefore I'm stucked in Europe until I fall in love with an Aussie girl... :rolleyes: Not gonna happen!:}
|
I love Qantas safety record!
But Lufthansa have better wage :D |
But quality of life is -IMHO- better in Down Under and wages aren't that bad, probably even higher. Anyway, it's not about money, but I am just in love with that country...
|
What company have best benefits for their pilots, except for the wage?
|
Seaplane in the carribean for food and housing when the chinese have paid for my retirement:E
|
Susi Air lololol
|
Don't know what working at GS has to do with this...
Got to be BOAC. In today's world, th answer is always another airline! |
In today's market - one of the bush operators in Africa. Stunning views, 'real' flying, overnights at some of the worlds best game reserves, it's perfect......
Failing that BA will do nicely. |
Its quite hard to pay back to the banks and support family with bush-flying in Africa. But everyone is at different situation, so Im sure for many people it is a dream job!
|
British Airways, hence why I want to get into FPP so badly!
|
DHL, UPS, FedEx etc, I dream of flying RHS 75/76/777 on freighters...
|
BA or Virgin for me please
|
Long haul 747/757/767 in a major airline in Europe
|
The Fighter Collection... Bearcat, innit!
Although I would like to try out my MEP rating on something. |
Flying the Pilatus Porter for Susi Air.
|
Some folks say I got the dream job. ;) And well, yes, it's a bloody good job. One of my mates flies an Airbus to Antarctica. I reckon he's got the dream job.
Other mates have done the MAT thing on Float Twotters. They left... |
Sabre. Why? I would be 15 years younger and they had 727s
|
Flying a G550 for a major Hollywood film Studio. If such a job exists/existed it would be the best flying/lifestyle gig out there bar none!
|
Flew with a guy last year who had the above job, he worked for Dreamworks.
My coursemate on G550 course was with Disney, and he worked damn hard, so those jobs are out there. The dreamjob for me is in corporate, I spend more time sailing than flying!:D |
Been in love with BA since I was a kid. It's still where I want to work.
Failing that I'll happily fly a Cherokee around with a waterpark banner trailing behind! |
1. Virgin Galactic
2. Air Maledives 3. F-22 |
Fedex on the 777. :ok:
|
1.British airways-Concorde
2.SST 3.British airways-B787 |
I'm with Pilot Lad rather than HMDP above. Having spent 30+ years flying in Britannia/Thomson flying charter oerations, I have to say that the variety of long haul and short haul to a very varied mix of destinations ( from radar vectored to a 10000ft Cat3 equipped runway to visual approaches to 6000ft 30 metre wide runways) takes some beating. Add to that some great colleagues both flying and non- flying, and a well maintained fleet of decent aircraft and I wouldn't want to have been anywhere else. I would regard myself, however, as being at the right end of a long aviation career, and would struggle to recommend it to my kids today.
|
Matey, sounds like you've had a cracking ride! :)
|
HA in HNL on A330 :O
|
A G650, owned by a beer baron, based out of Broome in Western Australia, if ever such a job were ever to exist :)
Otherwise, getting back to reality, and what appears to be a popular choice here: rubber dog turds or not, a FedEx 777 would be my pick. |
omg
qatar airways
emirates airlines air mauritius british airways :ok: |
FTSE
Id like a job flying a beautiful swept wing corporate jet for a FTSE 100 natural resources company.
This job would need to be on a 2 week on/off basis, with the aircraft based no more than 30 miles from my home. It would also require me to have every weekend off as a general rule. Salary would have to be no less than £100,000. Bonuses would need to run into serious figures. I would need to stay in any hotel that the flight department chose (in a good way). I would need a company credit card to cover any expenses. Any positioning flights would need to be in Business class. The company pension scheme would be very generous, as would the private Heath care scheme for my family. Obviously, there would be permanent health insurance to guarantee my pay in the event of losing my licence. The senior management of the company would show you respect in their dealings with you, trust your experience and expertise. They would back you to make the correct decision and to accept it if the need arises to make changes to schedules or routes. Routes would be worldwide, with a healthy mix of short, medium and long haul. Training would be fair and plentiful. Opportunities to self develop and take on courses and responsibility would be available openly. Colleagues would be your friends. Work would be fun. I know this sounds like pie in the sky compared to the norm nowadays. But, this job exists and I'm the lucky holder of one of the few Captains seats for this amazing organisation. Fortunately, the flying side of this business is really a tiny part of a huge and vastly profitable organisation. I feel very fortunate to do what I do. |
NR,
that would be the job spec I'd like to upgrade to for my next role; I'm quite some way there already but there are some elements that could be bettered! Enjoy! |
easyJet, on a perm contract, 5/4 roster, in the base of my choice :ok:
