bmi regional recruitment

Just wondering if any one had any info on any future hiring for bmi regional, and if so who to apply to? I'm ERJ-145 rated with over 1,000 on type, like many people I'm trying to move back to the UK and I think bmi regional would be a decent place to jump to.

Thanks.

bacp 3rd Dec 2012 17:11

With respect, where you are now must be dreadful.

Is life really that bad at regional?! The company I'm at currently isn't too bad actually, it's just the distance from family that is getting very old.

Thanks to those of you who PM'd me with the information I needed. Much appreciated.

Apologies for being flip, its just to come back from somewhere to work for an airline that is a bit unstable, and to a high (shortly to become higher) tax environment, sounded a bit desperate. But the family card is unbeatable. GL

No, I totally understand that point of view and if it wasn't for certain family situations I wouldn't even consider it. However, there's been a change of circumstances with family back in the UK and I'd really feel a lot better about being closer to home and being able to offer my support and assistance when needed.

FWIW I'd also be interested in any info anybody can divulge about BMI Regional possible recruitment :-)

B767PL 4th Dec 2012 17:19

Is it possible BMI regional is worse then any US regional airline?

It can't be worse.. I don't know if that's possible.

I too would be interested in current info on BMIr and their plans for the New Year.

BMIR

I would love to fly for BMIR. If anyone can P.M me with some info, that would be great.

Thanks

flying gunner 15th Jan 2013 13:39

Any up to date info on bmi Regional recruitment would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks

If anyone can P.M me with info on the current recruitment situation at bmi Regional it'd be much appreciated.

Cheers

welshwings 17th Jan 2013 23:03

Hi Flying Gunner
I have been very reliably informed that they are heavily over crewed at the moment so any recruitment is unlikely at present due to closure of Heathrow ops.

leuven1 18th Jan 2013 06:06

Welshwings do you work for bmir ?

welshwings 18th Jan 2013 14:33

No but I have a few ex-work mates who do and they have been keeping me updated.

turbine100 19th Jan 2013 06:26

Took at look at the BMI regional website, they are only advertising for cabin crew at Bristol.

Deep and fast 19th Jan 2013 15:02

In my opinion don't waste your time. You need to get yourself on equipment that makes you marketable in the workplace and the Jungle jet doesn't. Ask those trying to escape, unless you do what many have done and go to Qatar.

Unless you fancy trying your hand in the corporate area, but then making that just isn't always easy if other threads on here are accurate.

AngryBaby 19th Jan 2013 15:13

Don't listen to Deep and Fast, he's got a serious axe to grind, wanna explain Deep? No... I thought not.

Regional is a great little company for you to aim for, it's a great opportunity for that first job or if the life style fits. Lets hope they start recruiting soon so that some new blood can join the ranks. It's flying, it pays well compared to the rest of the regionals, lets just hope that it continues because some of us actually appreciate being in their employment.

leuven1 19th Jan 2013 18:11

D N F why don't you like bmir ?:\

fade to grey 19th Jan 2013 18:47

This is a new and alarming pprune trend - people wanting recruitment info but by PM !! Wtf makes you think you are so special the info shouldn't be shared publically.

I worked for them a few years back and thought it was a nice friendly little company .

flying gunner 19th Jan 2013 19:13

Thanks for all the info people have posted, it's much appreciated.

With regards the P.M thing, sorry if it got peoples backs up, was just aware that some people may not wish to share info on the open forum. By no means do I think im exclusively entitled to information.

Cheers

ATPLwhoops 19th Jan 2013 19:24

I tend to disagree, this forum is generally full of a lot of false information. If someone ops to make a PM then its upto the receiving person to respond or not. I do occassionally make a PM but its only to attain a true picture of the current situation of a company. There is nothing wrong with that, if someone has a problem with PM's then they should disable the option. I've made a PM on this forum like others before now. It's difficult to attain accurate information sometimes, so a PM is perhaps the only way to find something accurate out.
The amount of rubbish that is posted on here about the company I work for is unbelievable. The rumour mill can spiral out of control, not so much on the bmi regional thread but some others are full of rubbish.

Big respect for BMIR...who wouldn't want to be part of the team! Best of luck to them!

Deep and fast 19th Jan 2013 19:44

Angry Baby send my your number and I'm more than happy to have a chat.

Judging by the numbers who have left and are looking, I don't think I am too left of field.

Do I wish the company the best? Absolutely! Career choice? Not with the way things are in the job market.

Nobody has to take my word for it, just join and let me know how you how you get on. :E

Is there any meaning to the weird callsign "kittywake"? Here kitty kitty...

fade to grey 19th Jan 2013 20:53

well, you'll never sort fact from fiction on pprune. People are reluctant to post info especially negative stuff on their current employer and the average line pilot doesn't really know what the Recruitment sit is.

depressingly in 15 years , and 5 operators, it is always a last minute thing, with the top CVs on the pile.
Networking did me no good, banging on doors did me no good. I estimate 1000 cvs , mostly did me no good.

You send your CV and wait, and hope something comes up...

Is BH still the top man at bmir ?

Kittiwake is the bmi regional call sign. This was introduced due to the carbon trading scheme requiring differentiation from what was bmi mainline for monitoring the scheme

It's also said that it was dreamed up in ABZ cos its the name of a local seabird......standing by for a old Aberdonian ( if this is the correct term) to correct me

Jenson Button 20th Jan 2013 11:20

There is no BH involved with bmi Regional. That chap left for the Far East in search of fortune. There have been a number of changes to the management of the company and it is all well documented. Reggie is a stand alone outfit - do your research if interested in joining them.

They are (possibly were) overcrewed for the winter due to the loss of the Brussels contract and the fact that they pulled out of wet lease operations for the previous parent company at LHR. There are no and will not be any future operations at LHR for Reggie(unless an expensive charter or Harry Potter gets involved).

If you get invited for an interview this spring its unlikely to be an embraer 145 sim as the only two in europe are in Paris or Zurich (I stand to be corrected). None in the UK, so if its a sim ride in the UK it will probably be a boeing or something.

Possible recruitment. Quite likely, but I think the CP has probably already got a list of people ready to go (though likely that some of those already have jobs). There will be a small influx of people as there has been natural wastage over the winter period and it will need recruitment to operate the number of airframes Reggie currently has. If joining Reggie to progress to virgin or Tommyfly you might be better off gambling your money on a boeing or bus rating and pimping yourself for 5-10 years. If you want a reasonably stable home life, home most nights in any part of the country other than the South East then i might be a perfect fit. Most recruitment over the last 10 years has been people who had some commercial experience with minimum 500 hours. The base of your choice can come up immediately depending on circumstances or you could be left wanting for a few years - if your going to grumble about being stuck in a base you didnt want nobody is really going to listen to your whining as everyone has already got the Tshirt.

Don't PM me, I don't work there.

Off to polish my new car.:ok:

leuven1 20th Jan 2013 11:35

Hi JB how's the 777 going, there was a sim check in late Dec and it was done Paris. There are command assessments going on at the moment so recruitment IMHO will be soon. Big meeting next week hopefully good news.:ok:

Jenson Button 20th Jan 2013 12:44

Lovely plane the 777.....

Interesting that prospective candidates are going to Paris to get checked out. Good luck to those gals and guys. Must have some spare pennies to rub together.

Yes, if there are upgrades then will need some bodies to replace the vacant seats. I think there are good prospects for recruitment 2013, unless there is expansion there will just be a handful though.

Back to the running and car polish.

Deep and fast 20th Jan 2013 18:51

Post 29 is on the money.

I've always been tempted by BMIR - will have to keep a close eye on them this year

New routes for bmi regional

This is now 7 new route in 4 months of being a standalone company, eventually they will have to recruit and I would suggest sooner rather than later!

bmi regional Launch Three New European Routes From Birmingham Airport - Birmingham Airport

SU27 25th Jan 2013 17:26

BMI (who)???

This 'outfit' is a joke.

They are rude.......never answered my application, yet they asked some of the most in-depth medical questions I have ever had to submit answers to.

I sincerely hope they fail at their struggling, pathetic little business plan.

They fly hardly any passengers on old and tired, fuel guzzling, E135/145 sheds!

I laugh alot when I see them taxying in to my local airport. How tired they look!

Anyway....keep trying. I really do hope you fail soon and have to send your old sheds...sorry E145s to Davis Monthan AFB to rot in the sun.

When (not if) that happens Ill go out and have a drink with my pals who work for real airlines.

By the way...this is not a personal dig at anyone. It's a post to insult BMI. I hope that whoever currently flys for them..leaves and gets a better job.

Seven Fifty Seven 25th Jan 2013 18:13

And you have honestly no idea why they didn't answer your application? Strange. :suspect:

Hotel Uniform Yankee 25th Jan 2013 22:39

SU27,

1. So to sum up, you applied for a job with an airline who you hate. So why apply?
2. You are told there will be no response to individual applications, in line with most companies. So why act supprised when you dont receive a response.
3. You now want bmi to fail and would take great delight in people being made redundant.

All I can say Im just glad you are not working there, and god help any airline which does take you on.

Why not cut the bad attitude, this will go a long way to helping you gain employment. People skills and the ability to get along with others are what airlines are looking for. You appear to lack in both areas.:ugh:

Jenson Button 26th Jan 2013 14:36

Having a positive mental attitude defo helps.

A bit of networking; I.e. getting to know some people in the company helps. Don't be a greaseball or master of the bull artist. Know your subject matter and know the future operation. There is no points revising ETOPs ?

Be honest, be truthful.

JASPA 30th Jan 2013 17:30

Hiya folks those of you who have stuck to you guns and not P2F try bmir there will be some recruitment lot of changes ahead might not be A320 or B737 but a good start :ok:

Wilberwuzright 30th Jan 2013 19:40

I don't know where all these changes are coming from as any I've heard are not that major! don't hold your breath for recruitment. Over crewed even for summer. I know guys in the hold pool for 2 yrs now. On the other hand, nice company, yes the 145's are old, but well maintained, some great staff. I wish them the best in the future.
