DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES JOIN THIS JOKE OF AN AIRLINE

No doubt you will read many emails telling you so from hear on in.

Enough said?

The Truth AS IS, in brief. !!!!!!!

Safi Airways used to have some good Pilots: That's a fact! However, Good people don't last long there!!

Over night in Kabul with US$100.000 (£62000) Life cover!! ISAF reports : Thats Safi IS a imminent target! Hotel blown up twice in ONE year!! One Captain injured and almost lost his life. The rest of the crew traumatised and post traumatic stress.

Operating in and out of Kabul: A stressful exercise just in its self! 3.5 degree ILS, Only one way in, 17500ft MSA, Blowing snow, strong turbulence on the approach! etc etc....

Refuse to overnight in Kabul: Fired. Refuse to take a pay cut: Fired. Refuse to move to a **** hotel: Fired.

New management M. M (with Dodgy passed) has single handedly F@@@@@@ the company: Fact!

captplaystation 26th Sep 2011 18:53

At the end of the day, we are all free agents, nobody HAS to apply, nobody HAS to go, what is obscene / deplorable/ requires someone is hung out to dry for this is how much money they dare to offer to prostitute yourself in a  war zone . . . ¢6000 as a Skipper :D :ugh:

Is this a p1sstake, or am I really missing something here ? C:pnts !

Edited to say M M, as in exRYR / ex DO of Arik /two prossies who decided to knife each other as they both thought he "loved them" / leave Arik in a "hurry" / another fellow "disciplined" Scot. . . Jeezuz ! I am in the wrong job, really I am, much easier to **** up everything in life & move on for a management wallah, than a simple aircraft driver. :D

English Rendezvous 26th Sep 2011 18:58

Used to be US$ 6000 Basic. Day Allowance: US$300 day and US$400 Kabul. Captains often took home: US$ 14000 to US$ 16000 a month FACT. That is until M. Mctighe started his cost cutting exercise!! (i.e. save money for company = add to bonus)

NOW there is NO mention of the day allowance!!!

captplaystation 26th Sep 2011 19:07

14-16 was no more than "fair" for what they ask.

Google Mikes name, perhaps add Arik to the search, and you will see why he is such a "driven man". . . . . not TOO many options ? but it seems SO O O much easier to hide a dodgy past if you are a manager ;) anyway, sure he enjoys a beer, ;) buy him a couple, & work on your contract, if you are unfortunate enough to be there !

Boeing737sr 26th Sep 2011 19:50

Stay away from this Joke of a company.

Also when people leave SAFI you will never recieve your last paycheck.
2 pilots now suing the company. Also the fat self appointed chief pilot lying about his aviation background, gettin a typerating and with no experience appointing himself training captain. Serious incident / accident will happen here.
Worst airline ever. Also your insurance cover is only for 60 000 USD but only if you die of natural causes. All good pilots have left, only crj drivers there now.
Any other job in the world would be better than this company, trust me.....

stuckgear 26th Sep 2011 20:09

Colleague of mine worked for them, FRA based, got shrapnel wounds on his Kabul
i wouldn't like shrapnel wounds on my kabul either.

TomCat111 27th Sep 2011 05:11

How the stabbing of a young woman led Arik air

The canadian Chief pilot/Head of training (Randall Trent Howe) arrived at safi without a licence to fly any of its aircraft or any training qualifications on its aircraft.
Whilst working at Arik and against their request he obtained a 330 rating, but after 5 hours of flying he was caught flying without a medical (he has dyslexia) and was and still is suspended by the Nigeria CAA. His 330 hours were reduced to zero....FACT
Whilst there he went to Airbus to do an instructors course but he failed the course. Whilst his training partner was getting debriefed, he STOLE the course completion certificate...FACT. Airbus unfortunately prepare these prior to the start of the course and place in the file.
He has used this to convince everyone he has an airbus training qualification...illlegally.
He then did a CCQ course in USA, skill test in canada 330-320 but of course he did not have the required basic minimum amount of hours to do the course or was not current on the 330....guess what? He lied! ..FACT
So now he has an illegal 320 type rating and after 6 sectors flying the airbus he installed himself as a training capt.
He flew one person who had never flown a jet (1400 152hours) who had obtained a canadian 320 licence (no take offs in the actual aircraft), into kabul without a safety pilot as their first flight. Flying over iran, through afghanistan where no radar, kabul, dodgy ILS & VOR and regular 30 knot crosswind....FACT
Now he also only flies in to kabul in the early morning hours before the crosswind starts as he cant manage it.
There are hundreds of examples of his incompetence and stupidity as well as MMcTs. He is MMcTs lapdog, whilst MMcT and the spanish controller fleece safi for every penny they can get.
Many ex-taliban exist within its management and will try and convince you that staying in a hotel that has been blown up twice with crew in, and still is a target of the taliban is safe!

The taliban are the least of your worries!

Hi Moses,

so don't tell me that DR Airbus 330 Randy and the UK Jimbo have introduced a PTS- Pay to suck scheme - @ SAFI- Jesus

onefatpilot 5th Oct 2011 11:09

Dr Cpt Zebra

With all the exploits of our dear Dr Cpt, I wonder if transport canada or the faa know of him. Surely all his licences should have been suspended by now. He is going to kill someone if he isnt stopped.

Surely this would be a waste of time!

Nobody in any of these authorities gives a s**t

:yuk:

Tommy Tilt 11th Oct 2011 00:47

No it would not be a “waste of time” – and don’t call me Surely!

You cannot say that “nobody in any of these authorities gives a s**t” unless you are owed money by Safi and have written to each of the authorities personally without receiving any reply (?)

To the best of my knowledge, Safi Airways and all Afghanistan registered aircraft are still banned from flying to Europe. If any Afghan operator wishes to reinstate Europe flights, they must pass an ICAO audit. Part of that audit relates to financial responsibility and a review of all persons in the airline with Post Holder status.

From the posts on this thread, it is highly likely the dynamic duo of Howe and Mctighe have already caught the attention of one or more of the authorities.

If you are legitimately owed money by ANY airline and they refuse to pay, write reports of the facts to every applicable aviation legislative authority in which the airline operates. Name names and state all the facts that will cause those authorities to examine that airline or at least take note. Write to handling agents, travel agents, food service, fuel and flight plan providers to warn them of possible non-payment of services by the airline concerned. Make sure you keep the airline fully informed of your actions and the fact that they will continue until such time as your matter is settled.

You have to be like a pit bull – bite and don’t  let go until you have been paid!

Alternatively, spend your time on this website writing how nobody gives a s**t.

New CEO same crap

Looks like Mike McT has taken Ill mysteriously and new CEO has taken his spot. Now starting the same way as Fat bastar R. Howe with meeting all pilots in 1 on 1 meetings, we all know how that goes. How many will accept the latest pay cuts...LOL, will they never learn. Get out if you are there or don't even think of applying. As you have all been told before, when you do leave your last salary will never be paid, and you have no insurance. Another 9 foreigners killed in Kabul in the last couple of days. You travel in a 73 toyota Hi Ace van, skin not thicker than a banana peel. Stay the hell away if you value your life, these guys will end themselves and hope you are not there when the idiots do impact the mountains. P.S. Now banned from most middle east states as well as Europe. Good future....NOT

AvEnthusiast 2nd Nov 2011 06:59

Think that Afghan Civil Aviation Authority I mean MoTCA (Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation) has heard you. PM me if you have any concerns with regard to Safi and specially safety related issues.

BUSHJEPPY 2nd Nov 2011 07:07

737sr, you said "Now banned from most middle east states".

Which ones ? :confused::confused::confused:

MAGAGGIARI 2nd Nov 2011 14:21

They recently refused my application without any feedback.Obviously There's a lot of people ready to get in line...:ooh:

B757/767 8th Nov 2011 19:02

DO NOT GO THERE!

I told myself I would never post on this site, but on this subject, I will make an exception.

If you value your life, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT go anywhere near Afghanistan if you have a choice, even if you are desperate/unemployed/destitute/looking for adventure or just a bit crazy!

I know from bitter experience, as it almost killed me!

747JJ 9th Nov 2011 04:31

Not very nice eh... While you can certainly give advice, it's up to the individual to take or not to take it. What their personal circumstances are and why one would considere taking a job with a company with reputation such as Safi has does certainly not make the person stupid or an idiot.

AvEnthusiast 13th Nov 2011 04:21

But despite all this. they are still running on foreign pilots. and they deny to hire afghan pilots.

Yaw String 29th Feb 2012 05:09

Tommy Tilt is on the money and has an attitude similar to my own.

If a company stitches you up, knowingly....surely, sharing of the FACTS with every establishment that deals with the company, is the ONLY responsible thing to do...or laissez faire will rule our profession.

Good luck!

320DUDE 29th Feb 2012 15:54

Here is a King Air flying to Afghanistan /Iraq gig for 20K

• King Air 200, King Air 300/350, DHC-6, DHC-7 experience preferred
• Active Security Clearance strongly preferred
• Prior OCONUS experience strongly preferred
• PIC of Multi-Engine Turbo Prop experience strongly preferred
• Rotations, approximately 60-90 days on, 30-60 days off
• Excellent Compensation ballpark of $20K/month
• Initial and Recurrent training provided

What kind of compensation for 320 guys should be expected:mad:?

Tourist 29th Feb 2012 18:49

320 dude

You seem to be labouring under the misapprehension that a 320 pilot is higher up the food chain than a capable qualified and competent kingair pilot.

The laws of supply and demand would suggest otherwise, probably because you can fly a 320 around the world after a quick 250hrs.

CargoOne 29th Feb 2012 21:27

320DUDE

A320 you will fly to Kabul, maybe Kandahar or Mazari. Kingair you can end up going to Faizabad and all other domestic crap. Ever been to Faizabad and still think 20k to too much comparing to A320 drivers?

misd-agin 29th Feb 2012 21:55

"Security clearance" and "OCONUS" = Gov't ISR job, not a commercial KingAir job.

StopStart 29th Feb 2012 22:09

$20k a month to wazz around Afghanistan in a KingAir? Where do I sign?

763 jock 29th Feb 2012 22:21

Probably the bottom of your Last Will & Testament would be a good start.:}

SmilingKnifed 29th Feb 2012 23:48

Given StopStart's previous line of work, I doubt he's blind to the risk.

And yeah.... Where do I sign?

AvEnthusiast 4th Mar 2012 05:35

if they provide initial type training for the King Air. I'm ready. I already live in this area and I love this plane. Where do I sign as well?

Blunt Driver 10th Mar 2012 12:23

Still BANNED?

Are they still banned from flying to Europe:\?Why??

BB

EladElap 10th Mar 2012 18:56

All Afghan registered airlines are banned from Europe. This is due to the fact that MOTCA (Afghan CAA) are an absolute joke, and as such are not capable of policing Afghan airlines.

PT6A 10th Mar 2012 19:03

Av,

You need to be American for the King Air job, and in reality ex military.

I hear SAFI are only taking guys with 2000 PIC on type... Where are they finding these guys? Such little pay and the location.... Does make me wonder.

Blunt Driver 11th Mar 2012 07:53

WUT!

It seems Safi used to pay Capt’s around $14000 around 4+ years ago. Now with 2000 hrs.PIC 8000G’s:mad:……..REALLY:mad: WTF!!!
