MD80's at SAFI

Saw an advert for MD80 Captains and F/O's, wanted at Safi airways. Does anyone know any more info on the SAFI MD80 operation, ie. Where they are based (Afghan or Dubai) how long they intend using the MD80, salary for Captains and F/O's, benefits, are they MD82/3/7/90 etc. Any info would be appreciated.

DO NOT GO THERE!!

SEE POST NUMBER 25!

You WILL be quartered in the Company owned Safi Landmark Hotel, which is and has been (twice) a juicy target.

The Hotel is bordered, in very close proximity on all four sides, by very busy roads. It is impossible to defend from any form of attack.

If you are told you will be based in Dubai, be very aware you WILL night stop and do Stand-by's in Kabul.

The transport between the Airport and the Hotel, is in a soft skinned bus.....a tank would be the only 'safe' transport.

Anyone in Afghanistan is a target, foreigners are legitimate and locals are justified collateral.

The Afghan Management (and people) live with the risk everyday and are immune to it. As a consequence, they do not perceive there to be any more of a risk to foreigners.........THERE IS!!

The flying is interesting and challenging..........but, in no way makes up for how you will feel, when on the ground.

Please think long and hard about it......

No Last Paycheck at Safi...

I worked at the company for a little over eight months. After giving 30 days notice, the wonderful management at Safi refused to pay me the previous month's salary and the thirty remaining days: grand total approximately $27,000 USD. I don't expect I will ever see that money. Quite frankly, I'm happy to be out of that hole. The management is absolutely despicable and communication is close to zero. EK is starting Dubai-Kabul flights in the very near future which may, in fact, be the end of Safi. Given a choice to get on a real air carrier and a wanna-be, the choice is clear. In response to suggestions to contact MoTCA and ICAO... tried that. Zero response. They just absolutely don't care.

The Worst. Ever. Not Kidding.

If you want to feel unappreciated, unwanted, begging for salary, being cost cut for basic things like training days, overnight pay etc.... This is the place for you!!

:mad::mad::mad:

They have without exception under delivered, over promised and failed at everything they have done. The only reason they exist is because the owning family is embarrassed to close it down. Thus, there is imminent and daily stress about job security.

It is a place where daily the situation grows worse, I did not even believe it possible. But they have actually succeeded at this. They have skills at sucking at everything they do.

The management is incompetent, worthless and uneducated. They are concerned primarily with protecting their jobs at all costs. A power thing, where factions within the company fight. As a result nothing ever happens worthwhile.

If you choose here, remember that you read this. I warned you.

Better to fly a kite than the broken down excuse for a fleet they have. Parked 767, Parked A320, Broken down A319 x2. Wow.

Run, far away.
