X centric

Well done. That's one of the most low-brow, immature posts I've seen on PPRUNE.

Also, I'm guessing you tried to join the military but failed.

Callsign Kilo 3rd May 2011 16:37

Haa haa...X-centric, get a grip. Paranoia and an overly defensive attitude is also bad for CRM!!

My command of English is level 6. Not Wordsworth or Keats. My post didn't imply that a multitude of 744 operators were filling your inbox with requests. It relates specifically to Virgin. Good for you if they are asking you to re-apply. People looking towards a position in VS or who are considering joining VS found your verbal slams distasteful. By the sounds of it you either fly or have applied to fly the 744 for BA. They obviously can do no wrong in your book.

The Big Easy 4th May 2011 14:47

Anyone got a semi-accurate figure of how many 744 guys at Virgin have resigned to join BA?

TBE.

fast cruiser 4th May 2011 16:19

rumour within VS is 14 are off to BA!!

sharpclassic 4th May 2011 18:50

For BA or Virgin?!

BA start dates for the 744 in August/September time

Framboise 5th May 2011 06:20

This is the first time I've logged on for a year; I had to go through the password retrieval process. I've just checked my stats on PPrune: Two previous posts; both regarding interview questions at Qatar, for some reason. My membership is from 2006, but I know I had previously been a member from when I first got on-line sometime in the last millennium. I am at Virgin and just did a little search because I wanted to find out something fairly specific. This is what I came up with.

Note to self: In twelve months time when my aging memory forgets what rubbish is typed on this site do not, under any circumstances, try to retrieve that password.

Ta ta.;)

airbuddy 9th May 2011 16:43

Any news / inside rumor on recruitment??
thanx!

OBK! 11th May 2011 16:31

Finally had a reply here...

The Recruiting Manager has screened your application and we are writing to advise you that unfortunately, your application has not reached the next stage of the recruitment process.

Anyone hear otherwise?

Fly Better! 11th May 2011 16:32

I just got the same PFO email.

737 rated, 5000 + hours.

Fat Dog 11th May 2011 17:04

And me. 6000 TT, 3000 P1, 737 and 757 rated.

flyforfood1 11th May 2011 17:28

Glad i'm not alone then, total 4300 737 + A330. :uhoh:

Fly Better! 11th May 2011 17:40

Wonder if we have too many hours :) Probably looking for something under 400 total :)

Oh well saves me making any complicated decisions :):ok:

Doog 11th May 2011 17:50

And me. 737 rated, 6300TT, 4000 P1. Was even invited for an interview by them in 2007 which I couldn't attend at the time. They stopped recruiting soon after that, been waiting for a call ever since!

Black 'n Yellar 11th May 2011 18:14

Me too. Military pilot with 3,000 hrs.

skybullitt 11th May 2011 18:24

Same here.

over 10k TT,over 5k PIC 737, training Capt.

OutsideCAS 11th May 2011 18:25

Well, at least you guys/gals get a PFO mail......and you have enough hours with a decent type in order to apply in the first place. Try the lower echelons of the biz-jet world - takes 5 years to accrue approx. 1200 hrs and so much positioning you feel like a nomad. When you do manage to find a job to apply for, invariably after interviews your lucky to hear anything unless your successful - at least Virgin reply - not much consolation i know but it could be much, much worse.

VJW 11th May 2011 21:18

Me too. I had thought that my application was a bit of a joke, as i've only 2000hrs as FO on B737's. However the comment above regarding a maximum of only 400 hrs need apply, perhaps wasn't a joke, what with some seriously experienced guys on here also getting a PFO.

airbuddy 12th May 2011 15:07

Got the same email, A330 3000+ on type. All this sounds a bit strange

Narrow Runway 12th May 2011 15:15

I wouldn't be surprised if they're now not recruiting at all. But they won't have the balls to say so publicly.

The airline, in my time there, seemed to have little, to no ideas at all - excepting the knee jerk cutting of staff that it is so well known for.

All that glitters is not necessarily Gold. This could be a turd covered in cheap glitter, but of course, I couldn't possibly say for certain. But it did, and still does, smell rather like that to me.

Dihaz 12th May 2011 21:36

LOL at above.

But what you all have in common is that you don't have a 747 rating. What i'm intrigued at is why you want to apply to Virgin anyway having those ratings. There are plenty other opportunities and with good companies. Especially those with A320 ratings, you could put you finger on any country in the world and chances are they're looking for Airbus guys!

I have a 747-400 rating and wanted to join Virgin. Didn't apply, didn't have the hours. Im thinking maybe I should have anyway….

Jinkster 12th May 2011 21:53

Likewise - same email 3000hrs 737

Special Agent Oso 13th May 2011 08:20

Applied in March. Haven't heard anything yet.

Artie Fufkin 13th May 2011 17:33

Special Agent Oso - same here - either our applications have disappeared into the ether or we are part of a select group who are not worth either an interview or a PFO. :)

Al-Berr 13th May 2011 17:44

I'm in that ether too! :}

Akrapovic 2nd Jun 2011 15:59

Just got an email inviting to interview (Hold Pool), so opportunities are there . . . (I applied summer last year).

eagerbeaver1 2nd Jun 2011 16:35

I have been invited for interview.

Cattivo 2nd Jun 2011 20:49

Interviews

Well done fellas, when are your interviews?

Fingerathumb 7th Jun 2011 12:10

Does anyone know anything about the aptitude tests, which type and company etc?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please PM.

Marvo 7th Jun 2011 16:49

Got the PFO email yesterday.. Oh, well, there's a command course on the horizon where I am now. Good luck to all left paddling.

737/A320 4500 Total..

skyflyer737 8th Jun 2011 08:19

Well done Akrapovic and Eagerbeaver1. Can I ask what kind of experience you both have? I think most 3000+ hour FOs have been rejected so I'm wondering how many hours you've got and whether you have any command time?

Good luck at interview!

Craggenmore 8th Jun 2011 13:11

With 15 years to command they are probably looking at 30's and under (if a command is important to you.)

Marvo - with your command course round the corner, you'd be looking at a £30 Grand pay drop right..?

Marvo 8th Jun 2011 15:50

True Craggenmore! And when I say round the corner, I've nearly finished the sims, just the line training to go ! I trust the desert is treating you well my departed friend.. A wise move me feels.

Good luck to all who remain...

eagerbeaver1 8th Jun 2011 19:38

6000 hrs, 3000 hrs P1 B738.

5150 17th Jul 2011 09:50

Hi chaps,

Does anyone have any up to date info on what to expect on the assessment day at The Base? Can't see to find much trawling around . . .

Thanks in advance

5150 24th Jul 2011 16:16

Hi Brian,

I have an assessment in August for the FO Hold Pool. They were offering dates in June and July also. . . .

CIPO 24th Jul 2011 18:09

cheers!

eagerbeaver1 4th Aug 2011 17:54
