Good day 4Screw,

Hmmmm seem to remeber that old line back in 89...yep 1989 !!....

Its' just a shame that previous employee type rated pilots are refused positions even as contractors ( and that is certainly not a pop at the training dept that somehow manages to keep the plates spinning despite !!! )...

Guess they will just have to put up with the poor t+c's at B.A :ugh:

Is anyone aware of any plans to take on some more (non-rated) experienced pilots and if so, if it would be towards the latter half of this year? Seems like the 2010/11 training budget was well and truely spent last Autumn and they are still short of bodies if the recruitment ads are anything to go by.

As someone who's hanging on to get out of air taxi and into something that comes back each day to the same place as my children live. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :ok:

Has anyone any info with regard to Jet2 restarting their non-type rated recruitment? I heard a rumour that here was a new campaign due to start this month.

I spoke to a nice guy in the Recruitment office and he suggested I had a live application ready for May/June as they will be reviewing the crewing levels and publishing the recruitment requirements.

I submitted another application a few weeks ago, however I haven't heard anything yet.

I had a chat by phone with the recruitment yesterday and have been told to e-mail my CV to [email protected] as they will be starting to call people in for interviews in about a month time.....If one of you want to try you need to ask to speak with Andy Brown.
Having said that I did apply a few times through their website and never got an answer. :ugh:
Still worth a try!:ok:

Had a chat with a guy from recruitment yesterday and have been told that they finished to call people for May but to apply again at the beginning of June as they will be calling people for interviews in August.
Was very surprised to get a call from them...may be something is moving afterall.

Jet2 has given the pilots an increase including new starters. New terms for a FO joining the company are as follows.

Training salary until line training finished, which is 10 sectors for type rated people is £21466 all travelling expenses paid at .40p a mile self drive, hotel paid during training with a food allowance of £8.00 a day plus 10 percent off anything charged to the room.

Once line training is complete the basic salary for a FO is £42932.00 with sector pay starting at £7.20 for short sectors, £8.40 for medium sectors and £9.60 for long sectors.

Company matched pension.

Three RDO's a month which can be combined with leave.

As far as the comment that says, they are not accepting people that used to work for the company, its not true, people are returning that realized the grass is not always greener in different pastures.

From what I have seen, (first hand knowledge) it is a friendly airline, cost sensitive, yes and so they should be, with an open door policy.

As for pilots leaving, yes most are headed to the sand pitt (good luck to them, it would never be for me.) others are headed to BA.

Jet2 will need another 160 pilots for next year, I dont know whether they will look at non type rated people.

So, just using myself as an example, I would join Jet2 with B757/B767/B733/B738 time amounting to 3000 hours on Boeings, I would be paid less than what I was paid in my first ever year as a professional pilot when I had 250 hours flying a turbo-prop?!?

Jesus Wept! Jet2 = suitable for people out of work only! I hope they continue to struggle to get people...please tell me this is a typo!?!

I would be paid less than what I was paid in my first ever year as a professional pilot when I had 250 hours flying a turbo-prop?!?
Ten sectors will be completed in a matter of weeks, then you are on full pay, keep your post in the proper context.

So if it took 2 weeks to finish your ten sectors, the rest of the year you are on full pay which would equate to over £50 000. KEEP IT REAL, you didnt get anything like that for your first turbo prop job.

Why do people on here mis quote to change facts for there own satisfaction. To make things worse, he is a moderator, whats happening to pprune, cant find half decent moderators anymore?

When I started flying turbo props I was not paid anything like that amount, then again some of us are very very spoiled, I am sure you would agree.

Same pay for non type rated, longer to finish line check, then again if you are non type rated and can find a jet job in the current economic climate I would grin and bear it for the first six months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it took six months to finish ground and line training, thats roughly £10000 to be conservative, rest of the year £ £20000 still not a bad starting salary over the first year.

Six months is spot on.

20 sectors required for non TR pilots with previous heavy/similar experience or 40 sectors for those without that experience.

I needed 20 sectors and over the winter that took 3 1/2 months :( plus the 2 months ground school I was on the £20k for almost 6 months.

On the plus side everyone is very friendly and happy to help when needed. The company paid for the TR in exchange for a 3 year bond, which included Hotels near the sim and travel costs.

The 70% contract sucks unless you actually want it (which some older guys do) but I would be surprised if it lasts longer than 1 year as by that time eveyone will have a lot more experience and be alot more marketable to other companies. The difference in pay between a Jet2 70% contract and 100% contract with BA or Monarch etc in 1 year will be the cost of the remaining bond. I therefore see alot more leaving if 100% contracts are not offered as they were last year.

What have you heard from the line pilots regarding the 70 percent guys being bumped up to 100 percent?

All my course was 100 percent

I am in this situation and if I they offer me a job I wont be too worried about the salary or the number of sectors to fly before getting qualified......as long as they make me fly and gain precious experience.
