Since when did a 737 type rating cost £25 000:confused:. There are a LOT of 737 sims out there doing very little.

They wouldn't waste their time telephone interviewing you if they weren't serious, they've got better things to do.

Unfortunately TR self sponsorship is the way things are at the mo, until everyone says no it ain't gonna change:{.

If the job that Jet2 have is in Scotland, and you aren't prepared to go where the job is then it's hardly surprising that you got a no.

Mintflavour, and floppy link, the recruitment is going in waves, low houred non type rated first due to time required to get through training and on-line, then it'll be experienced non type rated, then it'll be type rated. There'll be a variety of pilots recruited, not just those seen as a revenue stream, but with the volume of applicants it'll take a while to get through all the applicants, patience is a virtue, although it doesn't pay the bills.

I see their point as I'm sure they understand mine; I have the luck to have a job but I'm always looking around to see where the grass is greener ( I wonder if the last part of the period make sense in english).....

I've been at Jet2 for some time now. I would honestly say to those of you who have been turned down.....think of it as a lucky escape!
The advice I have offered to my friends thinking of applying has been this: if you can afford by any means possible to wait for other companies to begin hiring then do so.
I completely understand what it's like trying to get a job (three years non stop letter writing to get my first airline position! ) but believe me when I say that leaping at the first offer can be a very expensive mistake that will take you years to recover from.

I had my phone interview yesterday too.

I said No to TR cost. The guy was very professional on the phone and had a nice attitude.

However after we had the phone interview/questions we were chatting and I advised that it would have to be something that offered me more either financially or an improvement of lifestyle for me to move from my present company. It seemed that jet2 were unable to offer me this.

Had the email a few hours later advising I wasn't successful.

There is something more than a little insulting for this revolting little company to be sending you guys these emails, as if to imply that you have not met their exacting standards, when the reality is that you simply will not play their grubby little game. Well done to all of you rejecting them.

P.S. for those who insist on defending this company, saying they are only reacting to the economic situation, some will recall they have always behaved in this manner. When they started up some years ago (long before any recession) they were even then, paying captains some £10,000 to £15,000 p.a less than other similar 1 year captains at proper airlines. Clearly things have not improved in the slightest.

For as many who say no to this offer, there will always be those who will say yes. A few more cadetships on offer down Kidlington way quite possibly?

OAT will tart this up like it is pure gold (much like they did with the EZY/Parc/PTF recruitment). It bolsters their recruitment numbers and maintains that 'special relationship' with Jet2 with regards to the use of their 737 sim in Manchester. The talented spin doctors (marketing gurus) at Oxford will already be spewing out the benefits of this unique opportunity to the naive. Sad but true, I've witnessed it.

I had a telephone interview this morning. I got asked all questions listed above, and said that I'd accept a 70% contract, I'd consider paying for a type rating, and that I'd prefer a Leeds base but I'd consider all others.

And I still got a standard rejection email an hour later. It seems that it's no longer good enough to consider and comply with these less than ideal terms and conditions, now you have to bend over backwards and offer to pay for training, work for a reduced salary etc.

I am not surprised at the deal on offer here but I am a little disappointed. I am from Yorkshire and hoping to relocate closer to home and I'm genuinely enthusiastic about the flying Jet2 do. I'm an experienced turboprop captain with 4000hrs total and I was hoping this would be the opportunity I've been waiting for to get onto a jet and quickly move back into the left hand seat.

Obviously it wasn't!

I see you are recruiting at Glasgow, where I'd very much like to be based (as I live here).

I've had a look at your terms and conditions and sadly have found them to be outrageously crap.

Thanks for your interest and good luck in finding some really gullible people to fill your positions. I truly hope that the 'successful' applicants are better at flying aeroplanes than they are at seeking employment for themselves.

Sadly I will not be processing this application any further.

Supposing Jet2 cannot find enough experienced suckers to pay for the TR and they decide to recruit more cadet type candidates: Are they required by the CAA to maintain a certain ratio of experience within the company?

Got the call, said "No".

Well there certainly seems to be quite a few saying NO or getting a NO after the telephone interview......I haven't heard a sausage since I sent the application in so haven't had the opportunity to say NO to a 70% contract. Being TR on the 73 maybe I'll have to wait a bit longer before they start going for TR pilots, but it'll be NO to 70% and NO to GLA/BFS etc... so that'll be that i guess!!:E

Hats off to the guys who have said NO already, good on you...

I had the telephone interview, if you could possibly call it that? Basically I told them to shove it when asked to pay up the 25k! That's as far as it went.

Some interview eh? Have you 20 - 25k to pay for a type rating? er, no...

I know it is a crap situation but your post is bl**dy funny!! LOL.......You've gotta laugh at how they are doing this recruitment. I'd love to be a fly on the wall when they get of the phone at Jet2 HQ, well that's another one that said we can :mad:off!!!

Well, ATP_AL Compared with you I am a gash shag training risk, and although I haven't got an email yet, if they turned you down (and they have any sense) it'll be a matter of moments before I get an email.

What a mistake they have made, it goes to show that they know nothing about recruiting the right people.
