Olympic

Hi all.
Any news about the new recruitment which Olympic has just started?
Anybody called for selection? what about T&c?

GreekPilot747 5th Aug 2009 09:49

Hi Giggey,

After the new airline was not able or willing to employ enough of the present
Olympic Airlines pilots, and with the starting date for their operations approaching soon, now they are looking for pilots from the EU.
There is a job ad in the Flight edition of Aug 4th. All positions advertised for type-rated pilots with some experience on type.

Obviously they are already aware of the tax privilege for pilots being cancelled soon, so fair enough, they talk about a Low tax rate (current), meaning you might end up with considerably less to take home after the tax reform.

What I have heard so far about the contract offered, did not seem attractive to me, however go and judge for yourself.

For some it might be an opportunity, since a lot less than expected pilots from Olympic Airlines opted to join the new outfit. They are rather looking
to transfer to the HCAA, keeping a permanent position in the public sector.

All the best to the new company, and the fellow pilots who join them.

ae757 5th Aug 2009 17:08

Hi fellows!!

Any more information about salary&roster?

Information about the recruting process is more than welcome :ok:

ae757 6th Aug 2009 16:33

Thankx mate!!

Looks to me not many people is eager to join with those conditions...

Any updates are appreciated,

Happy Landings!!

CarbHeatIn 18th Aug 2009 22:08

How many ATRs have they got? Their new website is still under construction.

Shaman 19th Aug 2009 11:58

I was eager but there has been no response to my application at all!

captplaystation 19th Aug 2009 13:52

(Ex) Dinosaurs perhaps don't react that quickly, maybe they will be as rapid and responsive as their "good friends" :ooh: in Turkish Airlines, who 8mths later don't seem to have recruited (or in most cases not even notified) the largest percentage of the candidates who managed to force their foot in the door to get an interview.
Nice folk, but a bit of an HR disaster zone as a company. :ugh: can't see OlympicLight being too different.

B767PL 20th Aug 2009 01:03

The conditions above don't seem attractive at all. Not only that but they seem sketchy, and set up to be able to screw and take advantage of you at will, leaving you with no leg to stand on.

Aussie 20th Aug 2009 09:47

Welcome to the aviation indusrty today in Europe... More and more like the US each day!

Ethiopia 21st Aug 2009 17:11

Does anybody know what salary can one expect to take home with the 'new' airline, all-in? Capt and f/o figures will be appreciated.

Thank you very much.

5 RINGS 21st Aug 2009 17:14

they already have people transfering from Olympic Airways to the new Olympic Air, plus cadets under training in Kavala.

Olympic Air will be massively downsized compared to Olympic Airways, so don't hold your breath as many current employees must be very happy to have an opportuinty to keep a flying job on their door step...

captplaystation 21st Aug 2009 17:45

5 RINGS,
I think I know where you are coming from.
Force the incumbents to reapply for their old jobs on vastly reduced conditions, and, if not enough take up the offer , then, and only then, offer places to the outsiders,
I doubt if that is too far off the truth, it probably depends how many don't have several wives behind them and can afford to retire. :hmm:

Ethiopia 21st Aug 2009 21:18

Thank you very much, info was very helpful. Do you know the figures for Captains?.

Any idea on what to expect from the interview?

Again, thank you very much for your help.

FougaMagister 24th Aug 2009 14:25

737N1 TOGA - thanks for posting the figures. I assume they relate to positions on the Airbus. Any idea about FO pay on the ATR42/72 and Dash 8? Olympic is apparently trying to fill positions on the TP fleet too. It would be interesting to know how much they offer.

Cheers

dcsagcs 25th Aug 2009 19:22

Are they accepting ICAO ATPL???
Tks!

ATRISGREAT 25th Aug 2009 21:34

The package they offer is very good. I am moving to greece next week. :ok:

eagle21 25th Aug 2009 22:20

Please can anyone PM with details as to what they offer for FOs?

Thanks

Gwan man 25th Aug 2009 22:41

Why not making it public...:ok:

ATRISGREAT,

Have you passed their selection ? If so, would you mind giving some details about the following :

Selection process

Offered package

Roster pattern

And was that organised through an agency or did you deal directly with the Company

Are you a Capt or an FO, and what actual level of experience do they need for respective positions ?

Any info very much appreciated:p

Many thanx before hand

Some of you may be wondering why, with the threat of imminent redundancy, the current crews at Olympic are not stampeding to join the 'new' Olympic. I have no interest in joining the 'new' company, but was flying recently with one of our pilots who was an FO at the 'old' Olympic for many years. He is a Greek from Athens and says that the new airline is deliberately employing foreign crews to break up the union hold on the company. Very few crews from the 'old' Olympic are applying because under Greek Law, they will get re-employed somewhere in the Greek state system at their old rates of pay, even if it is not in a flying positon. Therefore, if you are a senior A340 Training Captain and presumably earning a lot of money, there would be no incentive whatsoever to go to a cheap and tacky 'new' Olympic and work for loads less. Sounds like a pretty grim deal to me, but I fully understand the need in the current difficult climate.

DHC6to8 27th Aug 2009 08:17

Olympic pay for Dash 8 100/400 Captains??

I was wondering what the pay will be for the Dash 8 100/400 commanders... I am scheduled to go to Athens for an interview shortly:E and I need some more info... anybody got the details??
Thanks in advance mates!:ok:

ATRISGREAT 30th Aug 2009 12:49

For an ATR FO expect 3500/ 4000 euros per month, and lots of challenging airports :ok:

John.

pilotarosa 30th Aug 2009 18:37

Hello there,
I am also scheduled for an interview soon...can anyone confirm that non greek pilots can choose their base?
thanks for the info

hotelmodemetar 31st Aug 2009 13:34

There is no information about the roster pattern in their package. And the crew base is not very clear neither.
Are their any staff tickets with olympic ? :hmm:

Northern Snow Goose 31st Aug 2009 21:06

Hey All,
I have also been contacted for an interview this coming mid September. I have a Dash 8 Type rating but I'm not a JAA license holder nor do i have a full ATPL. I am planning on attending the interview but before buying airline tickets from Canada to Greece i would like to know that i would actually be able to work and live in Greece and that my license is accepted in Greece. I have been unsuccessful in getting any response from the person who has contacted me via email with the interview dates. Anyone who has completed the interview and would be an expat pilot be able to shed some light on this.
Thanks
N.S.G

Interview

Can anybody give me some info about the interview? Type of questions, technical/non technical etc?

Thx for the info guys, it's highly appreciated.

Polly

Monur 2nd Sep 2009 12:10

NSG,

To work in the EU you need to have the right to work in the EU. If you do not have the right then you need to be sure that Olympic will be able to get you the right.

Sorry.

tmax 2nd Sep 2009 21:19

All expirienced Olympic air Drivers as well Aegean Drivers refused the deal,So think twice!! New airline running by amateurs!! You hear soon about major changes concerning management idiots!!!!

jaarrgh 3rd Sep 2009 10:17

So is the tax 15% plus 18%? would an eu citizen pay local tax or home tax? any guesses for the 320 bases. do you have to wear a hat??!!

itsresidualmate 3rd Sep 2009 20:49

Anyone know what the state of play is with their ATR operation? Are they flying revenue flights with them?

norton2005 4th Sep 2009 13:29

did you guys apply through the old olympic airlines website? seeing as the olympic air one is under construction?

the_bookkeeper 4th Sep 2009 17:46

I will have an interview with them soon and it will be divided into 20 minutes psychometric test and 20 minutes interview with the committee.
Any infos on T+Cs?

iqit 8th Sep 2009 01:24

so ... nothing new?

pilotarosa 8th Sep 2009 07:02

guys and girls who have an interview with Olympic can you tell me if you are all type rated already?what type of experience? ( a friend of mine wants to apply but he is not typerated) thanks
ps it is just fair if I say my experience: 2300 TT 1500 dash 8 Q400, 500 jet time

haunted dog 8th Sep 2009 11:26

I thought this thread is about the terms!
Contractors offer approx. 4500 per month for FOs and over 8000 for CPTs on a 6 month contract, before tax and social/ill insurance. So how is the payment if you apply directly to Olympic? :ugh:

Cheers

Monur 8th Sep 2009 12:42

Parc Aviation is advertising for A320 FO and Dash 8 Captains for an airline in Greece starting October the 1st - sounds like Olympic so I guess that they have enough pilots for their other positions.

papazulu 8th Sep 2009 15:29

Hope this won't be regarded as off topic but...

Flight International Magazine is advertising pilot's positions at Olympic. Is that for rated-only or are the really looking for anyone with more than mere license and 200TT?

Regards

PZ :ok:

flyhigh85 8th Sep 2009 16:54

Did you all send your resume via Email OR is there an application form to fill out? if so wich email adress?

the_bookkeeper 8th Sep 2009 18:14

@flyhigh85: You can either send your application direct to Olympic (also see www.flightglobal.com) or you can apply through Parc Aviation if you are Dash 8 or A320 rated.

@papazulu: According to their advertising on flightglobal they are only looking for typerated pilots with experience on type.

FougaMagister 8th Sep 2009 18:26

Apply for the DHC-8-100 Captains and First Officers job posted by Parc Aviation, AviationJobSearch.com

Cheers

Kirks gusset 8th Sep 2009 20:42

For both types you need to be rated and experienced, speaking Greek will also help! Knowing someone in the airline helps more! I think the wages quoted here are a bit ambitious
