Aurigny Air Services

Hello I am type rated on the ATR 42/72 (no hours on type), I have 215 hours in total, frozen ATPL.
I heard this company will receive 2 ATR72-500 this year.
Can you tell me if it is a good company to work for and if they need FO.

THANKS

ATRISGREAT 16th Jan 2009 15:57

245+ readers and not even one little answer :(

What is the situation like in Aurigny Air Services? Weren't they supposed to receive more ATR72-500? do they pay well? do they recruit wannabes with a type rating? how many ATRs have they got?

Thank you for your help.

MJR 16th Jan 2009 17:11

Try looking at the PPJN web site, I think most of your answers are there.
cheers

It says they will receive 2 new ATR72s, so will they need more pilots??

Therein may lie your problem. Most airlines prefer to train low houred pilots to a type rating themselves, the fact that you have a piece of paper that says you can legally fly the ATR is probably nearly worthless with no real experience and none on type. Good luck anyway.

portsharbourflyer 16th Jan 2009 19:48

Jackdaw, if you knew anything about Aurigny then you would know that Aurigny do not have any TRTO approval and are unable to train any pilot themselves.

Most of the FOs at Aurigny have come from those that have self funded the ATR rating at Skyblue , as such Aurigny have often taken rated pilots with no time on type. The problem at the moment is Aer Arran have laid off several ATR crews hence there are several experienced crews on the market.

TTango 17th Jan 2009 11:05

I recieved an email from them this week stating they had a full compliment of crew and do not anticipate any recruitment in the foreseeable future.

Hope this helps.

ATRISGREAT 17th Jan 2009 19:57

yes but on ppjn.com it says they will get 2 more ATR72s!! so they will need more pilots.
Do we need to be from guernsey to be employed with no experience by them??

Loop... Hole 17th Jan 2009 20:05

pprune is a valuable forum - but in this case perhaps it would be best to give them a call...

skiptoit 17th Jan 2009 22:39

The two new ATRs are replacing the old ones so there will be no expansion, plus you need Guernsey Housing Rights to work in Guernsey, in good times Aurigny have applied for this on behalf of pilots from other areas who are joining the airline, however at the moment they can probably pick any number of guys from a pool who already have these rights. Flogging a dead horse at the moment I'm afraid buddy. Have you tried one of the agency jobs in Asia or Africa? There still seems to be quite a bit of ATR activity out there?

ATRISGREAT 18th Jan 2009 12:20

I have no hours on type so there no chance to find a job in those countries. I am not from Guernsey, but I have been told it's possible to have a working permit for a couple of years. I will keep on calling Mr Rice.
Do you know which company might buy the 2 old ATR72s then?? Farnair or Air contractor could be?

seasexsun 21st Jan 2009 12:54

air contractor and farnair are cargo companys, so i don't think they will buy those old atr for pax.

about aurigny i heard they wnat to fire more people.

good luck.

dann1405 22nd Jan 2009 08:36

As Skiptoit said, the aircraft are replacements not for expansion. If anything I can see a couple of guys getting laid off over the next few months due to the drying up of the charter and ACMI markets at the moment. There are also already 2 guys in the hold pool who were about to start their line training when the economy went bad.

Whilst Aurigny do not have TRTO approval they do have a very close relationship with Skyblue and in recent times plenty of FOs recruited have actually not been type rated- they have been selected by Aurigny first and then sent to Skyblue for their TR course.

Crashlanding 8th Feb 2009 20:42

The aircraft are to replace two older aircraft.

And i know for a fact they dont need any pilots at the moment :(

ATRISGREAT 11th Feb 2009 17:32

Who is going to take those two old ATR then?

quazz 11th Feb 2009 17:48

They will go back to the companies they were leased from.

MD80rookie 11th Feb 2009 18:57

Hej ATRISGREAT,

Rumour is around in Scandinavia that Finncomm in Finland are recruiting (at least was). You need JAR-papers and a winter jacket...! Check their homepage www.fc.fi

Good luck

Mr. SkyRaider 12th Feb 2009 14:03

...and you need to speak Finnish:*

tin canary 12th Feb 2009 14:17

I've heard they're off to Morrocco

MD80rookie 12th Feb 2009 19:04

Nope, no finnish language req. anymore. They use to have it written in their Part A, but it has been removed.

Winter Jacket is another story though... Mandatory req...

finncapt 13th Feb 2009 14:37

It may be a bit cold but it's a great place to live - and Finnish girls like British guys because they don't drink quite as much as most Finnish men.

Send the form in and they may give you a job.

The language is impossible - there's no gender (he and she are the same word) and there's no word for please!!!

You should be able to fill in the form with the use of an online dictionary - at least it shows enterprise.

MrHorgy 13th Feb 2009 16:25

Not surprised, when I went to Scandinavia alcohol was extraordinarily expensive! :E

Horgy

finncapt 13th Feb 2009 18:43

Alcohol is not that expensive in Finland unless you drink spirits.

Until the pound sank a beer in the supermarket was cheaper than the UK.

Even some wines were cheaper but it has changed since the pound went down.

It's hard just now on a UK pension but I've got the Finnish girl to work and that makes the situation easier - have to do the cooking though!!!

ATRISGREAT 16th Mar 2009 09:26

Has Aurigny Air Services received the new ATR72-500 series yet?
Any recruitment by any chance?

tyfilou 16th Mar 2009 12:01

forget it man

There's one ATR 72 500 received, one 72 200 going away to RAM, same happens again next month.

As per recruitment... forget it man, they asked crew to volunteer for 3 month unpaid leave this winter... that doesn't look like recruitment to come!

bye

The only area with recruitment at the time on ATRs is for Captains and TRE/TRI in Asia!

ATRISGREAT 16th Mar 2009 18:23

sorry but what is RAM?

ATRISGREAT
You remind me of a British comedian Henry Cooper. One of his gags he keeps asking for a drink and some cake, and although he's told several times that there's no cake, he keeps asking for something different with cake. In the end the waiter punches him, and he finally gives in and asks for a piece of cake on its own!
That's you with your two ATR's.
:D
Good luck

ICEHOUSES 16th Mar 2009 19:48

ATRISGREAT
ATR jobs or any jobs for that matter are few and far between, have you tried all the ATR outfits in africa yet, least its time on type whilst this recession is happening and some will prob take atr rated drivers with no time on type. Good luck anyway:ok:

Ranger 1 16th Mar 2009 20:33

G-COBO Nice Reg sounds like it was named after Cobo bay in Guernsey, which brings back many happy memories from the 80's ;).

It was a long time ago, but I'm sure Henry Cooper was a boxer, and Tommy Cooper was the comedian:confused:

Cabin Crew recruitment

Does anybody know if Aurigny are recruiting cabin crew at this moment in time, or do they have the required number for the company at this present time.

Thanks

kisslanding 18th Sep 2011 20:07

I would like to know if this company is hiring? Thanks.

jake56 2nd Oct 2011 18:54

hey there mate, late reply i know, but i my self work for Aurigny Air Services in Guernsey, Channel Islands! we currently to this day have 2 ATR-72's and anotehr ATR of which im not sure of due to it being 'tech' alot! :O its a great company to work for though! friendly people and i do know they were seeking a FO recently, but unsure of the situation now.

Journey Man 12th Oct 2011 09:17

Aurigny not currently recruiting and have a "number of pilots known to them" so looks like any future recruitment is not open either.

jamesaidan 23rd Dec 2011 08:38

I think you will find the comedian was Tommy Cooper. Henry Cooper was a boxer, and though he was up for a laugh, he was known for flooring Cassius Clay.
