Easyjet Recruitment

Does anyone know of an email address I can contact someone on with a question about current recruitment?

Thanks

Unfortunately the organisation of the recruitment side of easyJet leaves a great deal to be desired. The website, which is the only source of information for would-be pilot applicants, is virtually never updated. A number of people have contacted the recruiters to try and correct this but absolutely nothing has been done. This is particularly embarrassing as this is the public face of the company. Consequently you will note from the website that the 'current requirements' relate to the end of 2004. If there is someone in recruiting reading this - please do your job and make the 'current requirements' be just that.

The only saving grace is that once you are in the company then it is actually quite good - but that is only one opinion!

I started filling out the online application despite the fact that I dont quite have 1500 hours. I've got 1250 with 1000 on a turbo prop about 20 tonnes so I thought I would start in anticipation of reaching 1500 hours.

This resulted in me recieving an email yesterday asking me to complete the form asap as they need people for the boeing fleet and have type rating courses starting towards the end of the year.

I just wish I had the 1500 hours! What I wanted to do is to email someone to ask if I could still apply as I should have 1500 by the time I start working for them and despite the fact I am a little short of the total hours I've got 1000 or a large turboprop!

If they asked you to fill in the form . . . . . . . . fill it in , they have given you the answer . The industry is changing all the time, FR now advertising for non-rated pilots and they will pay for the rating ( allegedly).

EZY have had a few problems with the recent batch of CTC ad-initio guys , some of whom have been chopped , they will need to find replacements for them soon.

Do not worry...

Very soon the world is running out of pilots .....;)

Soon you are going to be flying jets and the conversion course will be paid by the employer!

Try Gulf Air, interviews coming up for non- typed guys in September and onward .

Cheers

Hi

What was wrong with the CTC guys?

Also, who are FR?

Cheers guys

The African Dude 4th Aug 2005 10:46

FR = Ryanair.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I think I had better fill in the form. Nothing to lose really and the worst they can say is no!

What to do? 4th Aug 2005 12:59

Hi

Surely Ryanair aren't paying for non-types (low hour) 737 ratings?!!!

Bless the day when they need to do that.

At 32 I was told I was a bit too old for the Easy Jet flight deck, as there is Captains as young as 25........best I go start collecting my pension......:*

In all fairness I wasn't offended, some airlines pitch for a younger team some prefer the more mature....when you're flying 4 sectors a day guess they want some young energetic lads/ladies.

angelorange 4th Aug 2005 17:11

Just filled in the form before reading this

Now 36 - so no chance!? Ageism seems a national plague!

Turkish777 4th Aug 2005 17:41

Angelorange Im sorry if I put you off, I was only going by what an EJ Training Capt said to me, its by no means a rule/reg just what they generally aim for, so send of your application most definately!!!

How many of us ever fit the criteria exactly, thats only what they prefer.....for instance I like young, fit blondes but still accept the odd middle aged mum once and a while...:ok:

Doug the Head 4th Aug 2005 18:24

Age is NO problem!!

angelorange,

Don't be afraid! EZY needs pilots and I'm sure that, provided you pass the selection, your age will certainly NOT be a problem!

Rick Binson 4th Aug 2005 19:27

Leo, apply as they need 70 FO's for the Boeing fleet and they're short of 30 Captains for that fleet too.

Immelmann 4th Aug 2005 21:17

Where are all the 737 captains (30) gone? Retired? New fields?

Rick Binson 4th Aug 2005 22:59

Some have left, some will have moved over to the Airbus, changed base etc.

Think there is a healthy pool of FO's to replace them but they can't release them for command courses as we're stretched!

Contract Captains anyone?

Maude Charlee 5th Aug 2005 08:29

Also, if you get a choice of bases at the application stage, put down NCL as a preference. It's a good place to be, but they have a massive problem getting crews to choose to go there. If you volunteer early on, it may go in your favour.

The age thing is rubbish - do not be put off. I never had a commercial licence until I was 36 and never flew a jet until I was nearly 40. I am now an A319 captain at easyJet and loving it!

It is true that there are a handful of 25 year old captains but they are very much the exception. I cannot say exactly but the vast majority get commands in their late 30s and early 40s. Pilots at easyJet come from every walk of life and are all the better for it. The current practice of taking CTC guys is proving to have a few snags but it has to be said the vast majority I have flown with are a delght to be around.

The 1500 hour rule at easyJet is only there until it is not there! There is no such thing as rules for ever - if you are asked to fill in the form just ignore the so called rules and do it. If they need you the rules will change in an instant. Anyway, best of luck to one and all.

Thanks Norman, thats very reassuring, I wasnt starting rumours that comment I wrote did infact come straight from the horses mouth, a Training Capt at STN, don't wish to name drop as he may well be on here lol. Thanks anyway
