Exactly correct.

Thanks guys. Sounds like a fairly good deal, if you can cope with the extended time away.

How about time to command?

jonjie 9th Jun 2005 21:55

$350 ? that's what Casa 235/ Dash-7 fo's earn in a MONTH in my neck of the woods. Some guys have all the luck!

MaxBlow 9th Jun 2005 22:39

donīt sweet talk things here...still not good enough for the work that is being done by all contractors. get real!

as mentioned before:
a very very very little little little step fwd. only. i bet an arm and a leg that a better and more realistic offer will be on the table rather soon before another bunch of guys jump ship!

1.5% - off time still off pay! har har:}

AAIGUY 9th Jun 2005 22:51

MAXBLOW thats just a lot of hot air. The raise is $15-20,000USD tax free in my pocket. PER YEAR. Yes there are issues, but the increase was SIGNIFIGANT. Based on this past year's days worked forcast to next year I will take home over $90,000 USD. No tax, no union dues, nothing.,, All in my pocket. Thats not Singapore Airlines money, but it is still very decent.

MaxBlow 9th Jun 2005 23:12

AAIGUY,

right, 15 to 20k if you can keep it tax free. most of the guys in europe canīt! and also only if you make yourself available 365days /year

350US/day is what you get after 10 years with the company/agency.

NO vacation!

pdm is new, it used to be included in the daily rates (harhar).
thank you, i will go to work in a clean shirt from now on.

so whatīs the improvement here?
only the most normal contract stuff!

i understand that it is a big step fwd for guys who worked for quite some time with aai and who sort of got used to be used.

now- please donīt get me wrong here - i like what i do (otherwise i woudnīt do it) but compare your (our) pay with the other contracts (same ac).

no sweat - everythings gonna be alright!

:ok: :ok:

NZLeardriver 9th Jun 2005 23:25

How is the pay tax free? Surely you have to pay tax somewhere?

AAIGUY 10th Jun 2005 01:47

Nope. No tax ANYWHERE.

Re $350. I believe that is what the B747-400 Captains START at.
I know the FOS start at $235 USD a day. I may be off by $10-20 a day on the Capts scale, not sure. HOWEVER it is well over $300 a day to START,

Taxes for the European guys? Only if there not set up correctly.

I was going to interview with a CAL. I am htinking of not even going to the interview. Its not worth it. AAI is the place to be for me!

NZLeardriver 10th Jun 2005 02:03

How do you get away with not paying tax in your home country? Or where the airline is based?
Not that I doubt you, just seems a little odd to me. Your profile says UK, I would have thought they would be trying to get as much out of you as they could rather than leave you alone!

jonjie 10th Jun 2005 05:18

without sounding moronic....what does AAI stand for ?

fatbus 10th Jun 2005 06:14

AAI - air alanta iceland
AAE air alanta europe

Phil Squares 10th Jun 2005 06:21

Legally speaking the pay at AAI is NOT tax free. The employee is paid through the contractor (Direct or Airborne) and it's the employee's responsibility to pay taxes.

What many pilots do is simply "forget" to pay the applicable taxes on their wages. That's a choice they make. However, do not represent the wages as being "tax free".

Earl 10th Jun 2005 07:49

For the US taxpayer you are allowed up to 80,000 USD tax free.
As long as you meet the time out of country requirements.
Which I think is 330 days a year.
Or show residency in another country.
You can still enter the country on a General Deck as an operating crew member and it will not effect your time at home.
At least that is what the tax man tells me.
Been doing it for over 10 years and the IRS says I owe nothing.

LEMD 11th Jun 2005 12:36

The -400 starting pay was $300.00 for a captain and $233.00 for first officer per available day.

Now it's $305 plus 1.5% or $238.00 plus 1.5% Plus the $50.00 per diem just introduced.

Tax is based on the individuals requirements and paid by the individual as we are self employed contractors.

Classic I believe was $250 and $175 per day I believe.

Still going to CAL AAIguy?

AAIGUY 12th Jun 2005 00:47

Giving it serious thought LMED. AAI Pays much better now. :ok:

Classic Pay is $305 a day 1st year Capt. (includes perdeim)
$230 a day 1st year FO. (includes perdiem)

Prince Buster 14th Jun 2005 14:02

So, did we come to any results on app. how much a new F/O on the classic make a month, before you decide (or not :E ) to pay taxes???

Cheers

Earl 14th Jun 2005 21:39

230 x 30= 6,900 per month.

AAIGUY 15th Jun 2005 04:32

I really don't think one decides to pay tax or not. The situation is such that most countries do not require you to pay taxes due to the circumstance. I am a legal non resident of my own country and am absolutly within the legal system to not pay tax. If you are European and based in LUX, there are reciprical tax treaties with most other European countries that can have you paying 0 tax too. This whole operation is completely offshore.

Podunk 20th Jun 2005 08:55

747fanatic et al
