Question Howz it at Emirates?

Was thinking about applying with Emirates as cockpit crew. They seem to be expanding with a 19 billion dollar order for aircraft even as most airlines are in recession. Any information on how is it to fly with them and on living in Dubai would be appreciated.

Thanx and ave a good one

Tried a search but turned up zilch.
Am more looking for personal experiences of people working there. Whats life like flying long haul outta Dubai? How many days are you home? How many hours of flying a month? Family life? Dubai itself.....

I did a search and turned up 1211 results. There's plenty out there.

Rev, I read with attention your postings since I find them quite balanced. Here is my situation, I'm on the left seat of a widebody with a strong asian airline I get blocks of days off 25 on 10 off some times 35 on 14 of not including the traveling time, of course I get to live where I want but I have a young family and it is pretty hard some times. The company is Ok (financialy strong) and is somehow expanding (not as Emirates), salary is reasonable not with the EK benefits, I know it is my decision at the end, but good opinions help. I've been thinking about applying to EK, what do you think? What would be the estimate time to command (10.000+, 2.000 wide body PIC) I've been in Dubai in layovers but that is very different when you live there. Appreciate your time. Sotr....

Don't bother !

It will only stress you out more when offered an interview at EK.

"I have a young family and it is pretty hard some times." I am afraid that is aviation in this day and age, not even Emirates will take the edge off.

Stick out the Asian monsoon,
