Brookfield Aviation, Surrey

A group of pilots are taking legal action against Brookfield Aviation, Surrey, for non-payment of salaries. Three other pilots are considering same. Also, recently three pilots referred salary non-payments from B'field to their Embassies.

May be wrong but.......

I hear that Brookfield is 'allegedly' now wholly owned by a small Irish company called Ryanair.

I wonder what effect that may have on this subject?

With Air Atlanta 'allegedly' owning Airborne Personnel (ex ACE), I wonder what's next.... BA buying Contractair or maybe LH buying Parc per chance....

Bob,

If this relationship is true, have you any thoughts on why Brookfield can get away with paying its RYR captains about 2/3 NET of what a fulltimer gets? That's what I hear anyway. No doubt it is because there is no unity or representation for the contract pilots, and many of them hope to receive a fulltime contract in the future.

Meanwhile I wonder at the % size of the contract force and am curious how long the IAA will allow such a large non-employee work force to continue. Brookfield claim its crews can expect 900hours pa. Well that sounds pretty fulltime to me. It seems RYR have got a good cheap labour scam going.

But Brookfield is not the only company used by Ryanair to get cheap contract pilots. Pilots may not have reached the stage of the cabin crew, where there seem to be a large number of recruitment companies at work; nonetheless, the common factors are surely well known by now - reduced pay, efforts to further reduce conditions at contract renewal, negotiation of very different deals (depending on the skills or wit of the particular pilot they are dealing with), etc., etc.

According to the blurb on the public page of the REPA site, if I remember correctly, REPA membership is open to contractors specifically because of the problems this thread is identifying. The real problem is that the contractors are even easier to exploit than the full-time pilots. Paradoxically their freedom to leave does not seem to translate into the power to control their employment circumstances. MOL and his merry men believe in "direct negotiations" so don't forget that when pilots get together they are offending all that "city hall" stands for.

Is there a single thread on this forum that hasn't been hi-jacked to Ryanair bash?
I thought this was pprune.org and not bashryanair.org! I have no personal involvement with Ryanair, I just get sick and tired of reading the same old crap all the time, this thread was about an agency, not Ryanair!

Angry

I've worked under Brookfield contract in 2003. I'm not surprised that pilots are taking legal action against them!

They will never respect any of their contract. They are working hand in hand with Ryanair. As Bob said, i won't be surprised if Brookfield is fully part of Ryanair Mafia....

I really hope Brookfield will go down

All bunch of

What is your point? Is it our fault that the very agency which is the subject of this thread is probably controlled by Ryanair? I don't know that is is for a fact (though many have assured me that it is) - but I do know that it is a major supplier of pilots to Ryanair. In fact I have yet to hear of a Brookfield pilot working for anybody else. I also know that it is responsible for the kind of practices that it is important we get out into the open.

Would you prefer that we pretend there is no Ryanair connection? Would you prefer that nobody talks about how certain practices started in Ryanair have moved to a number of agencies recruiting both pilots and cabin crew?

If there is somebody out there with better information, then let them provide it. If it turns out that there is more to Brookfield than I have suggested, then maybe your post has some validity.

Is anybody willing to own up to working for RYR via another agency than Brookfield?

The standard rates via Brookfield are:
Capts 114 euros per block hour + expenses 20 euro p/hr as appropriate.

F/O's 65 euros etc. etc.

Is anybody willing to own up to being on a different deal??

If yes, they can answer here, or a PM to me if you so wish.

My point was that I have no involvement nor interest in Ryanair whatsoever and it seems wherever one turns, it's Ryanair, Ryanair, Ryanair!

You say, yourself, an agency PROBABLY controlled by Ryanair, are you a journalist, you're certainly talking like one. I happen to know that Brookfield supply very many pilots to Ryanair but I also happen to know they supply pilots to Air Sahara for another.

You say you have yet to hear this, well you've heard it now!
Captain Royce made no mention that it is Ryanair pilots taking action against Brookfield but according to your theory, it must be Ryanair pilots because Brookfield don't provide pilots to anybody else!

Ryanair's 'antics' have been 'reported' so many times that it does become boring, the same old 'crap' being recycled and churned out time and time again.

Amen

Angry Legal actions against Brookfield

I am a pilot planning to take legal actions against Brookfield Aviation as they did not pay salary according to contract. Anyone having similar cases? My lawyer and I would appreciate further info, send me a private msg!
Thanks.
