RYR Bases as SO/FO

Hello ladies/gents,

does anyone know the likely bases you'd be assigned upon joining RYR DAC as a SO/FO?

I would love to be in Spain (particularly Malaga, Alicante or Mallorca) if possible; wondering what the likelyhood of that is. Understand the range of options can be huge and perhaps impossible to predict, but any insight would be great. Thanks in advance, have a good weekend all!

What numbers are coming up in the next lottery?

A very complex question with a lot of variables. You can get them on day 1 and skip the lists of 200 people waiting. You can also not get them and join the back of the list and wait 3 years for them, by which time you're effectively choosing between that base or the command upgrade.

With the recent shrinking of other Spanish bases, affected FOs were given primary choice of other Spanish bases. They are now all heavily oversubscribed.

That is today. I have no doubt in 2 yrs time it'll be a different landscape again. As it was 2 yrs ago.

4/12 cadets in my course got their first choice of base. One of those people is doing a year in Morocco first before starting in the base.

Just to put some perspective, all of those are very likely to be on the top 10 of the most popular bases. AGP & ALC possibly on top 5.

It's a pure lottery system. If you are lucky you can be assigned to a very popular base as your first one. if you are unfortunate and sent to a place you didn't know existed before, you can wait 2,3,4+ years before moving to your desired place. At the moment all the transfer lists are full of people who joined in 2023 and 2024. Sometimes more than 200 FO waiting in the queue, to give you an idea...
If you miss your chance as a cadet, the hardest bases to get are probably BGY, VLC, ALC, MRS, CIA, OPO, FAO... actually it would be faster to name the easy ones to get, not sure which ones
