Converting Canadian ATPL to JAA

Greetings from Canada!
I have dual citizenship with the U.K. and seriously considering converting my ATPL to that of the new JAA for a number of reasons.
This is my debut post in this forum after scanning through many subjects posted here. Seems like there is lots of griping about conditions and such in the airlines. I guess you are always going to see that, no matter how good things get. I was surprized to see that there aren't too many asking about work in the U.K., is this because you've all got jobs? Nahhhh... I don't believe that for a second, given I know one or two tidbits about the world-wide industry.
What I would like some feed-back on is my likely-hood of finding work with a bare ATPL. I'm not 100% on the details, but it will probably be frozen seeing as though I don't have Multi-crew experience beyond F/E. I'm 29 years young, have 1600 hours in bug-smashers (with ATPL) and 1000 on the 27 as F/E. I would come over tomorrow if someone would hire me as an Ex-pat and work on the ATPL writtens at the same time, but I'm running short on ideas for places to apply.
Does anyone have a clue what I would be likely to be qualified for realistically with hours like mine? I know things run differently there, but diggin for answers on how it's different exactly.
It is a FLYING seat that I am looking for, but am willing to sit back seat again to prove my abilities if that's what it takes.
Thanks in advance... Now it's time to put the kettle on and wait for some wisdom
P.S. ... and yes I do say "eh" a lot.

Thanks Smokie, translate please.... "(Ex ACL)"?
Can everyone find work if they are willing to move around there, ie: multi-turbine? I'm being ushered out the L1 door here due to lack of work with very little in the way of options at the bottom of the air-stairs. Oh wait, there goes some Canadian tumbleweed... wait a minute, not edible!

ACL = Air Contractors Ltd. They operate B727s and A300s.
looks like they will be operating B757s(no flight eng) and ATR 42s possibly L382s aswell. I'm interested in the Herc my self.
The 72s and 300s are going eventually I believe.
Looks like you're between a rock and a hard place, what with tumble weed and yellow snow and all, Canada eh !
You wouldn't have any info on "Fire bombing " over there , who's hiring next season or not, want the requirements are; when I tried about 8-9 years ago every one wanted at least 3 circuits in the Space shuttle and one field landing in the "Sea of Tranquillity"
Is it still that difficult to get in ? I do have a Transport Canada License, Single / Multi / Land and Sea, 6000 hrs +.
One can still dream
