Vietjet purchase A330 but cant pay staff.

Vietjet has purchase 6 Airbus A330-343 from Air Asia X rumored to be around $16 Million USD per aircraft.

Only to crewed by Vietnamese pilots due visa restrictions.

Interesting considering all expats have been delayed receiving their pay again by 15 days, while locals received a limited amount of their due wages.

This is not the only one.

Sadly there are also European companies that start new business and in meantime they owe a lot of money to all expat crews!

Are you surprised? A great number of companies laid people off left, right and centre, sent people on unpaid leave for 6+ months, slashed pay and removed base salary in favour of a pay-per-hour arrangement and took all sorts of other cost-cutting measures in order to take advantage of all the cheap aircraft out there. Many lease agreements have a duration of 10+ years and will likely be hugely beneficial to said airlines once the COVID situation abates. It still works out cheaper to pay for an idling aircraft for a year and then make good use of it for another 10 years than wait until things pick up and aircraft prices go up.

...sadly, the interests of all the qualified personnel involved do not make a part of the equation.

Not just staff but suppliers too. Airlines across the region with a few exceptions are using the C-19 excuse to delay payments to fund activities such as this. TFs group being one of the worst in our experience.
