Non eu citizen
As KongFlyer says, it may well vary from country to country, depending upon your circumstances..for example:
If you are in a family relationship with an EU citizen, you:
https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizen...s/index_en.htm
Nationals of countries with no agreement with the EU
If you are a national of a country that has no agreement with the EU, your right to work in an EU country depends on the national laws of that country. If you are in a family relationship with an EU citizen, you:
- do not need a work permit to work
- have the right to equal treatment, including access to all social and tax advantages.

Non eu citizen
I am from the united states with an FAA ATPL and I have a residence permit in spain through marriage. My wife wants to move to back to spain but at first glance all the first officer position posted online require the applicant to be a EU citizen. But with a valid residence permit in spain and assuming I meet all other requirements, what are the chances of finding employment

[QUOTE= EU citizen. But with a valid residence permit in Spain and assuming I meet all other requirements, what are the chances of finding employment[/QUOTE] Its a problem if you return to Spain as each country has different rules for its own spouse visa rules. If you return to another EU country you are covered by the EU rules and Freedom of movement and work. EU has a service called Solve it that may be able to advise. An Australian CPL took around 2 years to acquire a German licence but was not married to an EU citizen. That would I assume be a worst case. He felt it was worth it for the employment opportunity's of the German licence.

I mean if you speak the local language, I dont see any reason why they would not hire you? You are legally allowed to work in that country, so why would a company say no to a valid candidate?
