Cadet program and future basing

Hello all, I am trying to decide which program to apply for, the generation easyjet or FTEjerez Thomas cook. To help my decision any information on which it best would be helpful. For either airline I would hope to eventually get NCL as a base, any info on times for such a base?
thanks

Generation easyJet beset are allocated based on the needs of the company at the time. Say you have 10 cadets on your course, close to finishing easyJet will say that have 5x spaces at Gatwick 3x Manchester 1x Porto and 1x Newcastle for example. It's then left to your course to decide who goes where, and also I believe some weighting is given to your performance throughout the course. So you could get lucky, but I believe that Newcastle is relatively small so is not likely to come up as often. However that doesn't mean that a transfer won't be available after a short stint somewhere else, but of course the smaller regional bases would have longer waiting times.

I wouldn't bother wasting your time with Thomas Cook. The chances of NCL remaining open are not good.

There is a plan to eventually get to four bases. Denied by management, but so too was the sale of the airline.

Hi there,

Couple of EZY cadets who graduated have been allocated an NCL base. Worth remembering that the competition between L3, CAE OAA and FTE tagged and untagged and even modular cadets for what, maybe 1 space at Newcastle?
I went for the EZY scheme and was told to forget about basing as they will choose where I work based on the needs of the company and Newcastle is one of Easyjet's smaller UK bases.

If a Newcastle base is truly what you're after then go modular get your CPL ME/IR do a good APS MCC and apply for the Jet2 pilot apprentice scheme. Again, no guarantee but a bonded type rating and you could potentially pay up to 2/3 less than what EZY are charging for their course and from what some of the guys have said they do consider base preferences.

I would look seriously at which company is likely to be around in the next for years and which probably won’t as a priority! Base choices are less important... If you joined EJ you could expect an initial base freeze of up to 24 months, and then you would be eligible for a transfer subject to seniority on the transfer list.

With the current EJ recruitment freeze, it may be 24 months before anyone can apply. Bases will be a luxury not an option .

Would have thought that easyJets UK expansion is almost complete. UK ATPL holders will only being able to operate G registered airframes in the BREXIT case. It stands to reason that most new joiners would have to have the right to live and work in main land Europe as any expansion is most likely to occur there.

They have already recruited more DEC than last year, and traditionally they rightfully give preference to internal upgrades, so no news here.

No. It’s not like a company is hiring 365 days per year...
