Sounds like a "modern" excuse.


1 - Paper logbook, and you sign a sworn affidavit with a notary

2 - Electronic logbook (I guess it shows the Hrs and what date they were entered, I am not so computer savvy, but would assume this can be verified )

3 - Your DFO/Chief Pilot/Fleet Manger would (assuming they were decent guys ) agree to verify your experience (approximately ) to any prospective employer, to give you a helping hand I hope, as you would be happy to verify that they were fair even handed Bosses if you were asked to provide a "Reference"

I cannot believe that this should be problem, but, ask yourself . . . do you actually want to work for a company that is making it one , maybe better to move on & find someone who is more able to "get real".

I once had a similar problem, as my 2 most recent "former employers" didn't exist, so, having not had the foresight to request references on a regular basis, "just in case", it became pretty much impossible to get them, but, we found a solution. Maybe, they are not so interested in you & it is a convenient "excuse", another good reason to look elsewhere.

I am working for the 7th airline now and 3 of them don't exist anymore, but no company ever asked me a confirmation of my flight hours or questioned them. As cptplaystation says, maybe you should ask yourself if these are the right companies or agencies.

Your logbook and copies of your roster should be enough considering that the records will be available via the administrator for the bankruptcy. Airlines are legally obliged to keep records, the airline may be bankrupt but the records should still be available via one source or another.

Well I did not keep the copies of my roster and I do not how the agencies can get in touch with the administrator.
Anyway, maybe you are right , I should not try to work my ass off for these people.

Good evening,

I have also questions about agencies:

I have been asking to provide references for all the airlines I have been working for: (4)
Well, I left the second one and third one in a really bad fashion, I had issues with my chief pilot in the second one and when we ceased operations both of us were hired by the same airline and the problems continued between us...we almost had a physical fight.

Anyway, I am little concerned....when the agencies call the references...what are they looking for?
-they just try to confirm flight experience asking the number of hours done?
-they just try to know how you performed in the sim?
-they just try to talk to somebody you have worked with to know what kind of pilot you are?

OR they try to know if there was disciplinary sanctions?

I could give references from this airlines but the guys do not work for it anymore so maybe the agency could find it weird especially if they try to confirm my flight experience for example, they would prefer to speak to someone from the management ( so to the chief pilot for instance).....however if they are just looking for an ancient colleague to know the kind of F/O I was, well that should be OK.

When a company goes bankrupt the employees receive a notice from the administrators, this is the " contact" records are kept by the FAA on Pilot LPCS etc. Pay slips showing block hours are the " norm" if you have none of this then it appears "fishy" and that's how any potential employer will see it.. It's your career and some legwork maybe needed. But in over 24yrs looking at recruits I've never found one that couldn't get some kind of validation of their hours etc, so it must be possible especially as the event is only a month old.. the paperwork must be hot off the press!

About time we asked for "references" from the agency, before we allow ourselves "as professionals" to be represented by them (most of whom could not be described in such fashion )
