If you want to quote a previous post in your reply; how do you do it?

Copy the post and select the quotation icon from the bar above the reply box, paste the quote between the markers. Job done

Why would you want to quote the post directly above? It's pointless, and a complete waste of the forum's finite bandwidth. A post that's buried within alot of other replies, however, is a different story.
