I appreciate you taking the time to write an informative post.
As far as future demand in China for narrow body expat Captains goes, I heard ( probably on pprune) that there has been a legislative change with respect to the low cost carrier business model in China and that will have the effect of increasing the number of airframes over the next decade.
Does anyone know if that is accurate?

Base: Shenzhen, China
Requires: 500 hours PIC in type. 3,000 hours total time, age under 55 years old at start of assignment. Compensation (net amount received by pilot): $18,200 USD per month plus $150 USD per hour overtime. Work Schedule: Four 8 weeks ON, 20 days OFF or 6 weeks ON, 14 days OFF. Contract term: 3 years (renewable)
Shanghai Airlines
Base: Shanghai, China
Requires: 500 hours PIC in type. 3,000 hours total time, age under 55 years old at start of assignment. Current on the B737NG within the preceding 6 months. Compensation (net amount received by pilot): US$18,000 per month plus US$140 per hour overtime. Work Schedule: 7 days off per month with 30 days annual leave. Contract term: 3 years (renewable)

Requires: 500 hours PIC in B737EFIS or 1,000 hours PIC in B737NG. 3,000 hours total time, age under 53 years old at start of assignment, current on B737 type within the preceding 12 months. Compensation (net amount received by pilot): Option A: 6 weeks ON, 2 weeks OFF, $19,000 USD plus $200 USD per hour for hours over 230 hours in three months. Option B: 4 weeks ON, 3 weeks OFF, $15,500 USD per month plus $200 USD per hour over 80 hours. Option C: 11 months ON, 1 month OFF plus 14 holidays annually, $21,500 USD per month plus $200 USD per hour over 80 hours. Contract term: 3 years (renewable)

and I wanted to put my wife and two young kids in a nice house, what do you think the cost of living would be for A) accomadation and B) some sort of pre-school activity for the kids ( they are 3 and 1 ). I am trying to work out how many years it would take to pay off my house
