Question What is the pay differential between QAN & Virgin?

Could anyone please tell me roughly what the difference in base pay is between QAN and Virgin flight crew and cabin crew?
Many thanks

I can't say with absolute certainty because i don't work for either. I do however have friends in both and as an indication a Qantas -400 S/O (and i believe all new S/O's are going to be on the 400) who has passed the first couple of years on low pay, will be earning as much, or more, than a Virgin Captain. And that's a fact. I'm sure someone in Qantas can enlighten you some more.
This makes a stark comparison between the "good old days" and the brave new world. I am all for the young blokes doing whatever it takes to get that next job and finally on to a jet, but at the end of the day, that is the exact reason why the crap salaries at Virgin exist, and it is the young blokes of today who are going to have to live with them throughout their careers. My advice is get an IT job, or become a stockbroker/financial adviser.

Perhaps I am ill-informed but don't a lot of BA chaps move over to Virgin when they retire at 55 and then fly for another 5 years?

If you already have your BA pension coming in then surely you could afford to work for the Virgin "crap salaries" as someone else put it?

The sad thing is that I would suspect that this does nothing for the advancement of the T & Cs of the other guys in Virgin who are not ex-BA. In short, the Grinning Pullover must be laughing all the way to the bank.

I believe it is Mr Branson exercising his democratic right to employ anyone he wants. That may or may not include over unionized FO's
