Hi,
This is going to sound rude, but about how much do you pilots actually get paid? I'll be going to university next year, and it would be helpful if I could get some kind of figure to help plan my life around. Also, how many weeks per year (on average) do you work, and how many hours per day, and days per week?
Thanks for helping
Yo!
Oh yeah, I forgot... Could you also give me some idea of how much you'd expect to earn within about 3 - 5 years
Thanks

I shall send this topic to the Terms and Endearments forum. Search through it and you will find the answers to all these questions. It's no good asking other Wannabes who aren't there yet!

Yo.
Firstly it costs a lot to get a license and its hard to get a job. Once you have one though the wages vary depending on how you got in that is did you start on a jet or work your way up.
I'm sure someone can correct my figures in the lower end but the jobs in the UK pay about;
Beginner
Instructor ????????
Piston twin/Turboprop F/O about £20 000
Turboprop Capt/Jet F/o about £35 000
Jet Captain about £55 000 +
I think you have to love it to be honest
good luck with your decision
