Sympathies to all you Flybe crew going through the wringer at the moment.
I faced a similar situation at bmi Baby a year or so ago. I survived several rounds of redundancy only to be caught by Mr Walsh's hatchet. The last year or so at Baby was not a positive place to be with the continual threat of redundancy looming.
I was fortunate to be unemployed for only a few weeks before landing a job with Norwegian. I'm now enjoying a much improved work life and feel a lot more secure working for an expanding company.
So what. Big deal. Good for you.
My message to you would be; don't concentrate solely on the negatives, there are positives to be gained from your current situation. I found that forcing myself to take a positive attitude helped an awful lot to accept that I couldn't change things that were out of my control (being made redundant) but to have the courage to change things that were in my control (finding a new and better job).
If I were to be honest with myself I should have moved on from Baby a long time before events came to an abrupt conclusion but the status quo is a powerful force, change is uncertain but often that's where the rewards lie.
On a positive note I think almost every Baby pilot that wanted to continue in the profession found a new flying job, some sooner than others and that included the self sponsored type rating pilots who literally had only a few hundred hours experience on type.
I sincerely hope you all find new and better jobs if your time with Flybe comes to an end.

Arctic Circle this is something that was brought up in the redundancy talk of January-April and we were told this wasn't an option. Whether that has changed in the intervening period though I have no idea. But the company seemingly weren't willing to do the pilots any favours back then.

Ok swap Finnish for Norwegian.
We had a visit after 6 months running a wet lease in Finland from three union members demanding a job.
Anyway they fly ATR's and aren't in to good a shape themselves.

Brilliant post and very encouraging. The only problem is that your type rating was a little more marketable than their's, and gone are the days of 'free' bonded type ratings. This might price a few people off the market.

Maybe, but I suspect most won't be able to handle the tax or the climate in Finland in winter.
Its a bit of a shock to the system doing walk rounds in -40.
Unless you move there and get the benefit of the tax you pay. Your not going to have a lot of money in your pocket commuting. I think you also have to a do a year on an emergency tax code which is basically 70% then the next year you get it back the difference and it goes to the normal 50% tax. Not sure of the numbers but I know the first year in country is pretty hard.

I still can't see the Finnish unions allowing it. It will bugger up the upgrades for years and years.
And aritic circle personally I do like the climate as well, well apart from a month of 550m rvr freezing fog.
And yes we have just got out of that annoying +10 to -10 band which is quite frankly a pain in the bum. Back to the white runways and silky smooth landings for 5 months.

Rumour - anyone?
Anyone know of a rumour that A £7m bonus is being dangled in front of Saad if the share price hits 200p? Someone looking to sell? That's a big bonus promise (if true) for an Airline that makes next to no profit and has never issued a dividend.
Shouldn't take too long as every time 'the 5 C's' and 'communication' are mentioned the price goes up by 50p.

I hear it's £3m for a share price of 200 & £6m for a share price of 300.
To be honest, if the share price is to do that well then the company will too. If he saves the company from the brink then he deserves it.
