No I dont which is funny because , when they advertised this position through the agencies they required the right of abode in US or OZ , they have not given me any details about obtaining a visa or visa sponsorship etc.

Heard a rumour that some guys who were successfull back in June are still waiting on a course date and that they (air pac) are known to make people wait a long time for the course to start anyone know of any truth in this,.....?

I am not sure if they take on guys with CL experience @breakthesilence you are the second person who I have heard of doing the skype interview on July and not hearing a single thing back from them......? I do not know how this is going to work out with all the immigration and work Visa requirements , I just have my fingers crossed.

Don't worry about the work visa. You'll be on a 14 - 21 day cycle, leaving the country regularly, so no work visa to organise or worry about. You will need to have the right of abode in Aus, NZ or US though.

@ozdork , this is the problem I am Irish , so I do not have right of abode as an irish citizen I come enter and exir the US as much as I want , I can however aply for a Australian 1 year holiday working visa.....

I worked for Airpac in 2004/5 on the 73 and at that time it was a requirement to have residency in Oz, NZ or the US. I believe that is still the case. They would only commute you on their own network so the main "gateways" were Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Auckland, Honolulu and LAX. I commuted out of Sydney. There was a Canadian guy there at the time who was living under the radar, so to speak, in Honolulu. There was no requirement to have a Visa for Fiji as there was some sort of agreement with immigration that expat crew would spend a maximum of 14 days in Fiji at any one time. I would definitely get a definitive answer on all of this before you commit. Another small point to consider is that the salary was paid in NZ dollars so check out the exchange rate. Of course this was a long time ago however with Fiji time I very much doubt if much has changed. Bula!

Maggot thanks allot for your post I really appreciate it , During the skype interview they said something about obtaining a crew visa which would allow me to enter on of their mentioned gateways every 14 days for a max of 72 hours thus permitting me to re enter Fiji or something like that , I am getting a bit worried about the whole visa situation as I have really set my heart on this , I just keep telling myself they know where you are from and they would not offer you the job without checking all my documents etc and by doing that they know I do not have US oz or NZ residency but I can easily obtain an AUS visa.

When I worked there in 2008-2009 your Passport was stamped with a 14 Day Only Entry. Simply doing an OZ overnight would reset your clock. However that procedure may have changed.
I had heard that they were doing Skype Interviews versus actually flying you to Nandi to interview. I do know that a friend of mine who had flown there with me and then left, just got rehired in time to be there for the Cyclone that just passed through Fiji.
If hired, you have to get a Fijian License and appropriate Type Rating. That was done at their expense in the past. Not sure about now. All in all, it was a fun place to work. Kind of hard to complain when you are living on an island in the South Pacific.

A few of my friends are working for Air Pac. They enjoy it. This is their first year. They don't know how they will deal with the tax situation however. One needs advice from an accountant to avoid those tricky situations with the tax man.

Does anyone know if recruitment is still happening? I've heard there is supposed to be a few courses soon, one starting the first week of feb (02/04) and another later on.

The Truck was an infamous bar in Narita, housed in an old lorry trailer on the side of the road. There was a sign on the door that went along the lines of "Air Pacific you are all banned, please don't cause any more trouble by trying to come in"
I was never unlucky enough to see why they were banned, whether a couple beers and bad karaoke set off the supposed 'warrior' spirit in them, or was is it their love of Neil Diamond which meant they didn't want to share the microphone.
Anyway like most of the nightlife in Narita, it is becoming a fond but distant memory, but I like to think that should the Phoenix ever rise again Air Pacific will still be banned, just for old times sake.
