Russia to allow carriers to hire foreign pilots | ATWOnline

It will be very interesting to see what kind of reception the crews give to foreigners, it has been such a closed club for so many years that I don't think it will be very social

I hope it will be this way, but it's not official yet and "soon" may mean a lot of time if ever.

Who in his right mind would want to work for an airline in Russia? I've had many contacts with Aeroflot pilots and trust me, their contract is not something you would work for. And Aeroflot is probably the best out there...

Private jets might be something else entirely, but Russian airlines? I don't think so.

Can they really be much worse than the contracts in Europe which are being offered at the moment? Or the rest of the World?? Agency fees...admin/visa fees...low salarys...3 month contracts...reduced pay over the winter..

It wont be long before we work for food...

What is the current contract is a moot point, what will be offered to attract pilots to these positions is what remains to be seen

Only 200 pilots and probably commanders only

The Russian Transport Ministry proposes hiring some 200 foreign pilots for Russian airlines, however, this figure would just cover the country’s flagship carrier Aeroflot and more pilots could be needed, reports RIA Novosti referring to "Kommersant" newspaper.
The Transport Ministry has prepared amendments to the Aviation Code, allowing to hire citizens of other states as pilots. The document is published on the website of the Ministry. The amendments have been submitted for interdepartmental adjustment. The quota for foreigners, and the period of contracts with them are to be defined by the Government. The quota is supposed to be in force during 5 years. In this period, the deficit will reduce due to training own staff, “Kommersant” newspaper writes today.

Interesting but the Rosaviatsiya doesn't support this suggestion. However I think it's a play.

When PARC, Rishworth, Sigmar, and CCL, to name a few start advertising for crew in the Rodina, then you can believe the news.
