Qatar Airways Interview-First Officer
Hi guys
I have been invited for a Qatar Airways interview next month. Any fellow crew out there with some information and tips for the interview, would be mostly appreciated?
I have been working through question papers from previous Qatar interviews and currently studying the company profile as well as previous flight experiences.

That should be enough Iceman, along with some Ace Tech reading, for the first part of the selection process. For the one hour interview second part, prepare plenty of examples from your flying career. The third part is half an hour sim session, two circuits, they just want to see if you can reasonably handle an aircraft and make use of checklists. Very pleasent experience in itself, they want you, thus they make you feel comfortable as much as they can. Good luck.

Be careful what you read/believe!
Don't rely on "ACE" for aerodynamics - it is VERY inaccurate! Better to study Handling the big Jets/Aerodynamics for naval operators and revise JAR/EASA ATPL questions that are relevant to everyday ops eg: take off performance etc.

Ace' aint brilliant but when I did the test, most if not all of the questions seemed to be taken from it. If you have loads of time to kill, you could read HTBG, but I think it is far too longwinded, dry and outdated.
What the hell - it is pretty easy anyway - our group all passed. It should be mostly in your head already.

I am browsing through Ace and anything I doubt I been googling. With regards to the actual interview with HR and Capt. Do they ask you lots of tech questions or mainly based on personality. I get the feeling from forums that I have read, that most guys are asked about there flight experiences etc?

Whilst HTBJ may not be quite as old as the bible, it does cover the fundamentals very well. The big issues such as jet response compared to TPs, momentum, Manoeuvre envelope, coffin corner, icing, LDR/LDA, etc,etc. Perhaps if new pilots read and understood books like HTBJ rather than cramming for ATPL multiple guess exams, we wouldn't see so many Loss of Control / Stalling accidents.

The reason why people cram for the ATPLs is because you only have so many sitting and time frame to complete the exams, its nearly impossible to get a good understanding of all the subject material. Plus the way the school drags the students through the ATPL section of training in 6 months what else is one to do but cram. Or the CAA could cut out all the crap thats irrelevant and increase areas like principles of flight and performance.
With regards to loss of control, during my CPL training we constantly reviewed stalls and steep turns. In an airlines average 6 monthly check do they cover stalls, slow flight, spin/dive recovery??
