Flying Wild,
No I haven't emailed just yet. On the right side of my applications just says Finished. Feels like déjà vu and I have a feeling the hold pool will get scrubbed like it did a couple of years ago.

Can I ask perhaps a very personal question mesh? You seem to be experienced hence high on the seniority list at monarch, why leave them for BA? It's an honest question, I'm wondering why people see leaving seniority at a good airline to join very far down the list at only a slightly better one.
Obviously tell me to get lost if you don't want to answer. I'm asking because I'm hoping to join your current employer

So it would appear that BA is about to shower itself in glory yet again by informing disappointed hold poolers of their fate through the official medium of pprune.
Highly professional.

I wouldn't imagine the recruitment team will be influenced by a few rumours on pprune, however when the time comes to communicate BA's position, I'm pretty sure that they will. It won't come as a great shock if the news is negative. The more recent communications and internal rumblings haven't exactly been stacked in the favour of DEP positions, have they?

I suspect most of those in limbo after interviews at the tail end of 2011 will have assumed the worst. I have.
As for internal rumblings, I have little faith in the veracity of those. I presume in 2011 the recruitment team didn't realise the bulk of their efforts would be in vain.
Even if I were invited back for another bite at the cherry in the coming months I wouldn't celebrate until I were sitting at the pointy end of a BA aircraft.
It's being so cheerful that keeps me going...

No problem answering. Mainly lifestyle and job security with the family. Monarch is a fine airline but it doesn't offer the plethora of training, fleet, travel opportunities that BA does. Various other reasons that makes it an interesting option, simples. If I stay at Monarch I will still be happy but maybe not as happy as I could be with BA.....

Make the most of Monarch as I'm told its extremely unlikely for BA to do any DEP recruitment throughout 2013. I would imagine the folk swimming in the pool, and that have a close resemblance to a dried up prune, will be able to get out of the pool and dry off shortly! This will be a frustrating time for all of those who have been patiently swimming/bobbing along. Historically, those that have dropped out of the pool have had to go through the whole process from scratch again (keeps HR in a job!).
To rub salt in all of the experienced pilots wounds BA will also be relaunching their FPP programme over the coming weeks.

British Airways Kieth Williams
"Speaking to the British-Swiss Chamber of Commerce in Geneva on Monday, BA chief executive Keith Williams said the airline industry had been too optimistic about economic recovery and adding capacity beyond sustainable levels. According to Reuters, he said he had predicted in 2009 that it would be 2018 before it saw a real recovery - and events have shown that was not unduly pessimistic."
I'll get my coat.

It's bad but not that bad. I believe there are around 90 FPP cadets undergoing training. They might not actually end up flying for BA straight after they complete their training but will when there are jobs for them. The FPP is about to be opened up again in a matter of weeks (unknown number). So it is promising but sadly not for DEP's which I personally reckon will still continue to be recruited but only a handful here and there. Not the large number that we've previously seen sadly.

Best advice is not to worry until the BA recruitment team inform you of their plans. I know it's easy to say that when you're not in that position but that's the best advice I can give.

2 posters above have mentioned the FPP will re-open in "weeks", where is this info suddenly coming from?
"Our plans for the next FPP are not yet firmly set in stone, but it remains our aspiration to open the scheme again for applications before the year is out....."
Health warning: Note that it's an "aspiration", and he later on in the piece says "if we do that" (i.e. reopen the scheme).
