That`s how things work here in Brazil ! As long as you have a degree, doesn`t matter which one, you`ll have your minimum hours deducted by 500 (usually).

I`m flying as a FO for GOL and during this year many FO were hired, something around 250 to 300 FOs. The demand was so high that the company had to use training facilities all around the world (MIA,DFW,LAX,YMQ,AMS) to train them.

If we consider the following: only 6 acft being add to GOL`s fleet in 2012, WebJet acquisition and the rumours about an economic crisis (with stocks going as low as during the 2008 scenario), I bet next year won`t be a positive year for hirings.

Some say that the companies are doing a fair lobby to approve expats here, but the brazilian pilots are trying to avoid such thing from being approved.. Why ? Because there`s definetely NO LACK OF PILOTS here.

It`s all about trying to push the salaries down... So far, the companies are offering only 3% of payment raise, while the country inflation is way above that.

Despite of that, It`s still funny to fly here, at least for me !
