Have you tried? If so, please let us all know how you got on.
Or are you just going to spend the rest of your life being negative?
If I were a young man, I would be after the possibility of a position on an A380 like a ferret up a drainpipe!

I personally think this is a bit of a ruse to generate applications.
I attended one of the open days not so long back and asked the direct question "are you going to recruit directly on to the A380" the answer was no. Company policy at the moment is to recruit onto type from within.
Cant really see this policy changing in the few weeks since the chat but if it has then best of luck to those applying.

They could offer DEC on the Saturn V and Space Shuttle. It's still the desert when you get home after a trip. Good luck to those that fancy it, just remember to look far beyond the shiny metal before you rush in.

First direct entry FO course on the 380, scheduled and filled in, for July 2011. Looks like all guys with previous wide body experience on 330 and 340. Maybe also 747, etc...
More Direct entry FO courses are planned after July.

If your message was aimed at me I can tell you that I'm not being negative. It is fact. Emirates will never hire of the street to A380.
They have it on the ad to attract applicants. and why???? I will tell you why,
ME carriers are struggling to find qualified candidates. Fly Dubai is hiring, Qatar Airways is hiring, Rak Airways is hiring etc, etc. And don't forget that Cathay Pacific is starting its Second officer recruitment (and maybe in few months the first officer recruitment ) There are not that many qualified pilots out there. So, to generate applicants to fly the A380 they will advertise.
good luck

PilotDreamer, please wake-up...
I fully agree that a lot of airlines are competing for the same pilots...
But yes, EK is hiring straight on the A380. Names are on the course list, starting in just over a month. So never say never...

FYI, the recruitments on A380 are EXCLUSIVELY for FO's with previous experience on A380 ! A few SIA FO's have already applied...
But it will have to change, like everything else in EK for the last 2 years...

380...big deal
Any idea why the 380 should be a better opportunity, when Emirates are considered a very bad place to work? (QR and EY are no better, allegedly)

I guess the A380 just like any other type ... all ooooohhhhh and aaaaaahhhhhhh for a few weeks and then the boredom sets in and you start thinking of the next thing
The only thing that should affect people's decisions if they get to choose what type they go on, is the roster pattern and the money

Is Emirates considered a bad place to work? I don't think anywhere is great anymore.
I asked for the A380 and was told maybe, I asked because I think the roster will be far superior to the 777 and Airbus 330/340.

Roster pattern on the A380 won't be so good, it only has a few destinations that it can fly to whereas the 777 goes virtually everywhere you can think of. Depends if it is time off you are talking about. Will impress the birds though saying you fly the biggest aircraft in the world commercially :-)

Smith, with one coming every month from September onwards for the coming years, there will be plenty of variety on the 380 network.
I fully agree it it the place to be for the new EK joiner now.
DirectCF, no not only for 380 guys, also recent 340 experience will get you a seat.
