Not sure whether this is true, but for the first 4 years of your A380 service you are not allowed to do manual landings...
Again, might be just rumor.

Just out of curiosity: what would be the time to command for someone with 4000 hrs and wide body experience?
How many hours do you fly per year?
Min hours/years of service for upgrade?
Thanks

The mins are 3years/6000 hours but be advised these are only mins.
Lately upgrades are at 5 years with a few exceptions.
There is going to be a hugh backlog on the 777 soon don't know how they are going to sort that out, there are a few 777 capts going 380 but only a small number.
Have a look at the fleet plan and you will see what I mean.
2700 pilots now you would be 2701, 1400 capts at the moment, my guess 4000total in the next 5/6 years

Hello there.
I am looking for info on Emirates, I heard that they are considering pilots with no jet time, only turboprop time. This is in general, not talking about the A380.
Is that true?
Regards

Hand flying is allowed, but the flight directors have to be on. Visual approaches are allowed if it is more efficient than an instrument approach but heaven help you if you make a mess of it and an instrument approach was available but not used!

Are you sure of that ?
I have heard that the autopilot must be switched on passing 400 feet and must stay on till 400 feet on the approach...
Unless there is a problem with the automatics of course.
