Korean Airlines hiring process for 737 and so?..
hello guys (and ladies )
so I'am a pilot flying in 737-300/900 for the last 4 years and have almost 4000 hours (3600 hours in 737NGs)
I'm planning to apply for Korean airlines.
So I'd welcome all kind of information regarding
1- the hiring process overall
2- salaries
3- number of flights
4- layovers and freq
5-interview and presim checks before hiring
6- all in all if u like it or not?
I'm dying for more info as i want to go and start the job (if i can of course) as soon as possible.

KAL-hiring
Dear Colleague,
If you look in the Far-East section of PPRUNE and the look for Korean Air....
That should give you a better overview then contacting the Agent only. He will tell you that all is fine in KAL and it is one of the best contracts available in the Industry..... until you are in and then: Exactly the same Agent will tell you that it is a taff life and they can do nothing to change that because they will loose you and then they loose the monthly commission out of the MUC.
Think carefull why this Job opening is ongoing, why are alot of the old timers leaving and go somewhere else. Newest: Korean Pilots got a payrise and a bonus paid, the Expat Pilots got zero until today despite the clause in the contract, which is ignored since the last 3 years, that if the Company makes a profit the Pilotīs salary should go up according the GDP in the US from the same year.
8.500 km Distance is not around the corner and if you have not been to much into the Oriental Culuture then learn the cruel part first and then go there, your shock wave is lower.

Like mentioned before check the postings about Korean in the Asian subforum. Especially for non-rated guys it seems to be very tough and they fail people's checkrides from time to time.
What I heard/read about Korean is:
- Most live in a hotel near Inceon (at least for the first time of the contract?)
- Captain/FO relationship especially between Korean CPT and expat FO can be difficult
- Very strict SOPs with long briefings and minor mishaps can bring you in trouble
- Upgrades not likely to happen with contracted expats thru an agency
Without knowing your current situation I would try Turkish Airlines or Norwegian. With 3600 hrs on type I guess you have good chances to get an invitation.
Good luck!

Agency plugs
I see that Rishworth are pluging themselves anywhere on KAL topics. As someone who worked for KAL I would say that they are all the same as far as money is concerned. What you want is the job and support to get it. That would bias me towards TAS or GAP. IMHO.
