Winter contract only
As some airlines, mainly charter, seem to offer a summer contract only, (7,8,9 months),
is there any way to keep flying and thus to keep earning some sort of pay during the winter time? I have heard that some airlines lease out their A/C's during the winter, so is there a way to just follow them?
How do other people manage? If anyone has some experience with these things, I would love to learn more about it.

Perhaps not exactly at your homebase, but about 2 weeks ago there was an immediate start 4 weeks contract on the market, a six months contract with immediate start came to my attention a week ago...a colleague is starting a 5 months contract in 14 days...things are available, you need to make yourself known as being available to as many agencies as you can find. Things are obviously moving a bit better than last year.

Here's an idea - everyone refuse any summer only contracts and only accept full time contracts. Being an airline pilot is a job, a very serious job, a full time job, not a part time job. The sooner management realise this the better.
The sooner we all grow some balls and stop bending over and taking whatever management throw at us the better.
Answer me this - if no one accepted summer only contracts, what would airlines have to offer? I wonder? Fxck me, it's not rocket science. Even Jet2 have realized this and have offered the last intake of part timers 100% now.
GROW SOME BALLS - SAY NO TO PART TIME!

Part time flying.
If I could find a job where I could fly part time that offers a good salary package, why would I refuse? I would expect the pay in a contract of limited duration to reflect the risks involved. Otherwise, yes, they can stuff it.
Point is, there are plenty of part time jobs out there. Always have been.
You'd want to be focussing on the wannabe pages with your problems.
