Singapore Airlines Spousal Benefits

Does anyone know if Singapore Airlines offers travel benefits to same-sex partners? There's not much information out there!

I think those who knew the answer were probably laughing so hard that they can't answer your very very simple qestion.
Here's the short answer: NO.
Just in case you would wanna come back to ask more interesting questions, save your trouble. Singapore Airlines is probably the only airline in the world that makes 7 figures profit from its staff. You and your immediate family gets ONE FOC ticket per year, and even that, there are only 5 seats per flight up for grabs. Any more bidders than 5, it goes into ballot. So forget about travelling during peak period, which is 3/4 of the time for SIA.
And NO, there's no way on earth that you can get them to issue you a ticket regardless of what excuse you can come up with. Too many had tried, and they heard them all.
Last but not least, am really curious to know as to why on earth was this info not made known to you?

That sort of thing is illegal in Singapore, but tolerated provided it's discreet. Even "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" is banned from local tv so I hardly think the national airline is going to have a gay friendly employment policy.

It was a completely ignorant question, knowing very well the answer was probably no! I understand the situation for homosexuals in Singapore is not the greatest. Some American carriers or rather most now allow for same-sex partner benefits so I guess stranger things have happened...
I was just curious about the situation with their Staff Travel on the whole. Being used to Virgin Atlantic concessions I was more curious about what kind travel benefits there are. More specifically, whether the employee can travel with a non-family member on standby. At Virgin we have a Nominated companion that can travel alone and we can also travel with up to 4 non-family members when we travel for leisure. Being partially owed by SIA, our benefits on SIA as a VAA employee are remarkably limited however, I heard that very few airlines actually have ZED agreements with them anyway. I am also curious about what other ZED agreements SIA have with other airlines, besides VAA...
Thanks for the reply!

Short answer is SQ staff travel is not that great even for their own employees. A confirmed APEX ticket on another airline is usually only slightly more than an ID stand by ticket on SIA. They want their aircraft filled with passengers paying premium fares rather than staff on heavily discounted tickets.

Even if it was ok, The Inland Revenue Singapore has now made staff tickets taxable at non id rate. Yep grab the foc or id90 and get slugged income tax as if you earnt the full ticket price as your income. Gotta love the fringe benefits la!!!!

having an ID ticket doesn't help you anyway, because those flights are full and it's hard to travel without firm booking to and from Asia.

Better get one of those cheap tickets and you have your seat for sure. Since Asian people do not earn that much, ticket prices are also fairly lower than in the west. I've travelled to and from SIN more than I wanted and got away with it quite cheaply. Sometimes you get a intercontinental ticket for 600 S$. (that's about 400 US).

If you get into SQ you don't care about ID tickets anymore.

If you reckon they're limited, work for SIA and see what you get! I worked for SQ for 5 years and, apart from the yearly freebie, I got better value airfares from the numerous bucket shops on Orchard Road and they were never sub load!
