Same old ads...how much longer?

I've been actively seeking work for 9 months now and the same old ads are being published daily on the usual sites. In the past 6 weeks or so these ads have had a ring of desperation about them; 'immediate start', 'hours P1 negotiable', 'commuting contract improved' etc. The common factor through all of these is the requirement for an Airbus or Boeing type rating.

It seems to me that the number of aforementioned type rated pilots is finite and has to be drying up. Why else would such adverts appear on a daily basis if nobody was responding to them. It begs the question as to why these airlines do not offer opportunities to experienced captains with type ratings on other jet machinery - or is it that they just don't have the training capacity to type rate from scratch?

Perhaps some readers from the agencies or pilots from the constantly advertising airlines could provide some insight.
