At least this pilot hopes the Finnair/SLL pilots will persevere. Best of luck guys. I have had the privilege of working with a few of them within IFALPA and ECA.

It was just announced a few minutes ago that an agreement has been reached and the strike is over. Details to follow later.

Refreshing to see a pilot group with the ability to grow a pair when needed. I'm still searching for any sign of such a thing where I work... Hats off to the Finnair pilots.

So what was the outcome of the new deal? "Who won?"

The new terms have not been made known yet in their entirety, except for this:
the new contract is for two years, no pilot may be laid off or furloughed until one year has passed from now, the pilots accept a 5 % salary reduction, pilots and management try to negotiate a 13 % increase in productivity. New hire pilots´ retirement age will be increased to 63. The main sticking point, outsourcing, is agreed on like this: Finnair may dry lease E-jets for instance to Finncomm Airlines but not as a Finnair operation on Finnair routes. All Finnair flights are to be manned with Finnair pilots only. I´d say the pilots did OK, considering.

Thumbs up

Congratulations to SLL and the Finnair pilots! Looks like some tough concessional bargaining went on in Helsinki yesterday!
I have also had the pleasure of working together with some of the SLL pilots and they always struck me as very knowledgeable and very responsible. I know they fought the right battle here, against the cheap labour efforts by management. Good to see this outcome. Especially in the light of the "Open Skies" and "Viking/ Laval" cases of recent years.
Well done and thank you on behalf of so many other European pilots facing the same struggle!

Well done FLL. Any details on the outcome that can be made public yet? Would be interested in the details of the new scope clause as we are currently working on ours and therefore may be very grateful for any smart idea.
