1st Step - get the right Agent!

Be very careful which Agency you choose. I'm on the 330 Fleet with Brookfield and I wish I had never started with them - nothing but disappointments and hassles. There are 2 other Agencies, the best I have been told is the one in Schenzen.

I found this on cockpitjobs.de. It doesn't sound very attractive unless you are looking for a job, then it is the best job in the world

Here are the details;
The entire process takes 3-4 months from where we are now and actually starting to work if selected and interested
After submission of your required documents, if you are accepted based on your paperwork you will then have to
pass a 738 screening (min. 2 hour session) using the current SOP which will be supplied.
This assessment will most likely be in China (CHN).
This assessment serves as your screening, SOP check and the initial check for your CHN licence issuance.
The assessment is heavy on SOP, systems knowledge, flight in icing conditions, basic flight skills, captaincy
decisions, raw data and non-precision approaches. I can give you more info on that when the time comes.
You will have to get to the closest airport served by the airline and they will arrange and issue you an ID 00 ticket.
You will have to pay the tax and fuel surcharge up-front for this ticket. If you are successful and join, this will be
refunded to you after a few months due to admin procedures.
When in CHN for the assessment, exams and medical, you will be provided "basic" HOTAC, transport, etc.
The company will arrange and pay for all tests, medical, etc. in CHN.
If you have any complication during the medical and are required to submit anything from outside of CHN, this
will be at your expense and time.
The company will arrange and pay for your Residence VISA once Employed and have arrived in CHN.
For the initial multi entry (minimum two entries) Tourist VISA (you will enter initially with this) you will be
responsible for and have to arrange and pay for on your own.
If you bring your family and move to Beijing (PEK), no help from the company and you arrange and sponsor them
on your own.
The company does not have an medical insurance, loss of licence, etc.
The company does not provide any schooling allowance.
Flight Uniform, manuals, Company ID, navigation bag, overnight bag and headset will be provided by HNA. Any
loss will be claimed by HNA.
The final contract will be issued thru an Agency- three to choose from and I'll name them later when you get that
far.
3 year Contract based in Beijing (PEK). Extension very possible and Schenzen basing being discussed.
At this time no fleet transfers being considered. You will usually operate the 738, I believe only a few EFIS models
remaining in the fleet at this time and should be gone by the end of this year.
You will be expected to live within the PEK area (Housing allowance given).
No stand-by days or reserve days are scheduled right now.
Most days are 2-3 sectors 1:30 to 3:30 flights but long duty days due to breaks. Five to six days a week.
You will always be Pilot Flying when operating and flying from the Leftseat.
Free crew meals and beverages and above average quality during flights.
Over nights outside of PEK at a rate of 2 nights per week currently.
No per diems on layovers, but hotel meals are covered by the airline.
7 consecutive days off per month (the month after the final line check which takes up to four months to complete -
so you are stuck here for the first 3-4 months) is an option. It is possible to do back-to-back 7+7 occasionally but
not that often. Four pilots have moved their families over to Beijing and not opted for the 7 days.
28 days of paid annual leave per year which can be taken after your final line check. This depends on them being
approved. We are working on a fixed 14 day consecutive day Off schedule and hope to be successful.
They usually approve a maximum of 15 days off/leave/sick in one month off the schedule.
10 days paid sick leave per year, a doctors note is required and from outside of CHN accepted.
After the ground training period, the Base salary is USD 9800 (see below) per month after taxes which are paid by
the company.
You are issued with an written in English that the Chinese income tax is paid letter from the airline.
Basic salary will be USD$ 200/per day for the first 30 days during the ground training period after reporting to the
airline (This period will not be longer than 30 days. USD 327 per day will be paid pro rated for the day less than
full month on the second month.).
A USD 12000 bonus every six months calculated from the day you start and not from the date of your final line
check. Note- that if you have an a pilot induced incident you will be fined and this will be taken from your bonus. One pilot had an over-speed
and it cost him USD 4000. One pilot had a stick shaker during flight and it cost him USD 6000. So be well aware of this penalty culture and
their is no published price list for QAR events.
No per deims during lay-overs or extra flight pay (except for maybe over-time).
RMB 2000 transport allowance will be paid per month after ground school to a CHN bank account.
RMB 5000 will be paid per month after the hotel is no longer provided by HNA. Usually when the ground training
is finished to a CHN bank account. A 2 bedroom apartment near the airport is around RMB 3-6000/month.
Over time after 70 hours (pro-rated), averaged over 3 months i.e. 210 hrs over three months. Each Agency has a
slightly different version of terms and conditions and this has not happened so far that over time is being flown.
The pilot will have to refund HNA for the screening cost/simulator training cost with additional 20% penalty if he
does not serve more than 6 months in HNA after the final line check.
The "ground schooling" takes 2-3 months in Haikou, which maximum 15 days of schooling. so plenty of free time.
No Interline of ID travel tickets with other airlines yet, maybe in a year.
You do have access to 3-5 economy international tickets per year on the airline. You pay the taxes and service
charges which is not refunded.
Jumpseat flights available on the airline within CHN.
Experience requirement is PIC 500hrs+ on type (Candidates with both NG will be given priority and EFIS
considered).
Last flight within 6 months preferred. You may be considered if your last flight was longer, but if invited to a
screening, I suggest you practice in a sim prior to minimize a failure.
Total flying hours 4,000hrs+.
Under 52 years of age.
Valid ICAO license and type rating of B737. No circling restrictions can be written on your licence.
The CAAC seems to have a bit of a problem and delays with UK, Russian, some former Eastern Block and Japanese licence approvals for some
reason. Politics I guess so I cannot give you more details on this!
At least meet ICAO Level Four (4) on Aviation English Proficiency and must be listed on your Licence for
submission to the CAAC.
Non-criminal record document from the police less then 1 month old will have to supplied.
No involvement in Flight event, incident or accident attested by the previous employer stating no disciplinary
actions taken against you.
The CHN CAAC will contact your licence issuing Authority and confirm your credentials.
Valid First Class Aircrew medical certificate issued by a country approved by CAAC.
All above documents will have to be Notarized and in English. The best is to have them translated into CHN and
then Notarized again.
Background checks will be done based on you and References called.
Initially we only need Resume' type details so no worries about identity fraud, see the top page.
If you have the above qualifications, submit the one page to me.
I will review and then contact you with how we shall proceed further.
As a final note- side from the required paperwork, you need to be very, very proficient with English, have very
good command capability, be an ace flying raw data and non-precision approaches in the SIM, understand the 738
systems be able to adapt and deal with the CHN culture and management style.
Be company minded, patient and enjoy this life style.
Best regards,
